Abstract
The combustion of fossil fuels in the process of generating electricity causes the emission of carbon dioxide, which is considered the main anthropogenic reason for global warming. The paper’s subject is to assess the potential for $CO_{2}$ capture using post-combustion methods. Post-combustion methods such as chemical absorption, physical separation, membrane separation, and chemical looping, are described. The thermodynamic modeling of a coal-fired supercritical power plant integrated with a post-combustion carbon capture installation using the solvent method is performed. The results obtained from the model are used to investigate the impact of the power plant when carbon capture is performed.
