Description

Abstract

Synthesis of libethenite-olivenite solid solutions Phases from libethenite $Cu_2(PO_4)OH$ – olivenite $Cu_2(AsO_4)OH$ isomorphic series were synthesized for the first time by “wet method” from aqueous solutions. Elemental composition as determined by EDS spectrometry indicate systematic substitution of As for P. Raman spectroscopy also indicates that the intensity of $PO_4$ and $AsO_4$ absorption bands changes systematically with composition of the samples. Products of the synthesis from continuous solid solution series with systematic shift of X-ray diffraction peaks. For the first time a structure of the series members was precisely determined using synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement methods. Results of modeling of unit cell parameters evolution with chemical composition indicate systematic linear changes indicating that the isomorphic series is continuous and Vegard law is obeyed.
