Analysis and evaluation of effect of manganese content on properties of EN AC 46000 aluminum alloy
(AGH University of Science and Technology Press, 2019) Pasternak, Martyna; Brzeziński, Marcin; Piwowarczyk, Gabriela
This article is the effect of industrial work and many surveys in the one of the Polish foundries that specialize in aluminum alloys. The main goal of our explorations is to evaluate the influence of manganese on Al-Si alloy properties. In die-cast alloys, it is recommended to use larger amounts of iron to reduce the impact on the pressure chamber and mold. Manganese neutralizes the harmful effect of iron by changing the morphology of the separated brittle ferrous phases. The unfavorable form of the iron-containing phases in the form of long needles changes into the forms of fine compact crystals, which are less harmful to the mechanical properties. Nowadays, the main client requirement is to obtain the right parameters at the best price. Specifically, the customer is in the automotive industry, where new technologies provide a connection between the high quality and low weight of car parts [1-3].

Effect of cavitation phenomenon on the quality of high-pressure aluminium alloy castings
(AGH University Press, 2023) Brzeziński, Marcin; Wiśniowski, Jakub
This article presents an analysis of the effect of cavitation on the erosion of pressure moulds intended for the HPDC casting mould manufacturing process. Changes in the surface area of the eroded areas were investigated via photographs of castings at the begin-ning of the mould life as well as at 30%. The individual process variables were described and their influence verified via the cavitation potential module of the Flow3D simulation programme. The results are presented graphically with a description of the relationships and observations. The summary provides an explanation of the results and the dependencies that occurred.

Vacuum installations are currently used in moulding machines for flaskless as well as for flask moulding processes. The basic aim of using such installation is the improvement of compaction effects due to the intensification of the course of processes in the main compaction method (eg. by shooting) or also realizing of the initial compaction before squeezing. In moulding machines using of this type installations the stable and high compaction state, good imprint of difficult pattern shape are achieved. The low level of noise during the operation of such machines is also the advantage of their using. The correct selection of design and operation parameters of pneumatic moulding machines can be easier with the modeling of air flow process in workspaces of the machine. In dissertation the mathematical model and example-results of the air flow process simulation in the system of the stand for vacuum assisted moulding investigation have been presented. The simulation results were compared with measurements results of basic parameters describing the course of air flow process. The methodology of investigation of results of vacuum assisted moulding has been elaborated as well as the assessment of influence of design and operation parameters of vacuum installation on moulding sand compaction has been given.
