Stromboli - the best place to actively learn and understand the behavior of an active volcano and its processes

Basaltic volcanism, a dominant mode of volcanic activity on Earth, occurs as explosive eruptions, resulting from the exsolution of magmatic gases and is exhibited by Strombolian and Hawaiian types. Strombolian activity takes its name from frequent, small-scale explosions of the Stromboli Volcano, which was formed within the Aeolian Islands, north of Sicily. This paper presents the volcanic structure and features of its activity, based on the results of numerous studies carried out during the last 15 years. In the intention of the authors, this educational presentation would be an incentive to make a decision to travel to Stromboli and see its present-day activity and its effects from just a few hundred meters. To have a safe experience and to avoid accidents and injuries, the tourists need to have sufficient up-to-date information, before they embark on their adventure.
The geotourist potential of the Bialka River valley (in the Podhale Basin) - a project of a geotourist trail

The Białka valley is located in southern Poland. The middle part of the valley is build-up of the Paleogene Podhale Flysch. In common opinion, this region is not particularly attractive in respect to geotourism. To prove that it is not true, I proposed the project of geotourist trail in this area. The trail comprises 5 geosites, where the most attractive objects (according to the author) will be presented. These include calcareous tufa in Jurgow (first geosite), faults in the Bukowińska Grapa (second geosite), where pronounced effects of lateral erosion are evident, which lead to the shifting of the river bed. At this geosite there are also visible joints systems in sandstones (third geosite) and the sandstones show various types of lamination. At the fourth geosite, there occur clear neotectonic features revealed by granite boulders deposited several meters above the contemporary riverbed. Finally, at the fifth geosite, one can examine the thermal pools, which are examples of favorable geological conditions utilized for recreational purposes.
Geotouristic values of the Gorce National Park and its surroundings (The Outer Carpathians, Poland)

The Gorce Mountains are a picturesque range in the Polish sector of the Outer Carpathians. They are built with turbiditic deposits, representing sedimentary successions of the Krynica and Bystrica Subunits of the Magura Nappe, Late Cretaceous-Paleogene in age. In the Gorce Mts. the majority of lithostratigraphic divisions representing discussed subunits are very well exposed in numerous outcrops. The deposits of the Magura Nappe are folded, locally thrust, and cut by the strike-slip and oblique fault system. This nappe in the Gorce Mts. covers tectonically units of the Foremagura Group of Nappes, which crop out in two tectonic windows. From Rabka-Zdrój and Szczawa mineral waters are well known. Morphology of the Gorces Mts. is varied. A lot of rock tors occur there, as well as landslides, often extensive. Good localizations, varied geology, great land relief and rich live nature, as well as the highlander culture and monuments make the Gorce Mts. an area of high geotouristic potential.
The Racławka Valley - an example of an educational geosite related to the development of a Paleozoic carbonate platform

The location and most interesting geological features of the Upper Devonian through Lower Carboniferous limestones in the Racławka Valley were presented. The limestones outcropped almost continuously along the natural valley cutting. They comprise over 60 million years of continuous growth of the carbonate platform, which developed on the ancient terrane – the Upper Silesian Block. Geosites described herein may constitute a destination for geological trips for undergraduate students of Environmental Sciences, where they can actively discover the development of an ancient carbonate platform and accompanied post depositional structures.
School tourism in health resorts, exemplified by school trips organized for children and teenagers from Krakow

The process of organizing school trips should include such didactic elements as teaching, education, integration and recreation, as well as take into account the principles of a healthy lifestyle associated with the renewal and regeneration of psychophysical strength. Teachers organizing such excursions should, already in the process of planning, be guided by the values, potential benefits and attractiveness of the travel destinations. Health resorts, where the local climate creates optimum conditions for relaxation, constitute important travel destinations of trips organized for children and teenagers. The purpose of this article is to present towns and villages that are classified as health resorts as a reception space, which due to the qualities of their natural and cultural environment can influence the tourist activity of primary and middle school students. School tourism in the selected health resorts has been characterized in this paper for the purpose of conducting research.
