Projekt NEEST: dążenie do zeroemisyjnych i zrównoważonych miast w Polsce
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Leszczyński, Andrzej; Smolarek, Norbert
The aim of the NEEST project is to support Polish cities in their transformation towards net-zero emissions by developing model solutions. As part of the project, selected urban quarters were subject to a detailed 3D scan, and digital models of buildings and their surroundings were created. The development of so-called “technology baskets,” which are sets of renewable energy technologies that provide: heating, cooling, and electricity for different types of buildings, also played a key role. The article describes the methods used to select urban areas, the subsequent stages of the project, and the City Energy System Simulator (SSEM) tool, which could be used as an aid in designing a energy transformation for other cities in Poland.

Wytwarzanie energii oraz ograniczanie jej zużycia na przykładzie przedsiębiorstwa wodociągowego
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Żaba, Tadeusz
Electricity is an important item in the operating costs of every company. Therefore, its economical consumption and the possibilities of its own generation give the opportunity to reduce costs and gain a better market position. Distributed generation allows not only to reduce costs, but also to reduce transmission losses and increase reliability. Energy generation is of particular importance in the case of municipal enterprises, where their costs translate directly into the rates of fees borne by residents. Usually, this type of enterprises have natural conditions, such as a place for the development of renewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources are not only a fashion, but also a significant impact on reducing emissions and pollutants emitted into the atmosphere. Saving electricity fees is not only its generation, but also the use of intelligent solutions in the field of optimization of control of the operation of the main electricity consumers. The use of smart solutions is becoming more and more common, and the costs incurred for implementation are recouped in the short term. Such solutions also allow you to reduce the costs associated with service and ensure the safety of technological processes. The article presents activities in the field of energy generation and saving on the example of the Krakow Water PLC.

System RESHeat: integracja odnawialnych źródeł energii dla zrównoważonych rozwiązań energetycznych budynków
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Ocłoń, Paweł; Czamara, Marek; Ścisłowicz, Franciszek; Drzyzga, Agnieszka; Franczak, Michał; Yildirim, Mehmet Ali; Cisek, Piotr; Ojczyk, Grzegorz; Paradyż, Marcin
The paper presents the RESHeat system, which combines renewable energy sources (RES) for the production of electricity, heat, and cooling for multifamily buildings, with a focus on sustainable energy solutions. The system, developed under the Horizon 2020 program, integrates technologies such as photovoltaic (PV) panels, photovoltaic-thermal (PV-T) modules, heat pumps, and seasonal thermal energy storage (STES). Its main goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure energy efficiency in buildings. The article discusses details of a demonstration installation in Kraków, where the system achieved high efficiency, providing up to 70% of the energy required for heating and cooling the building. The RESHeat system has significant potential for commercialization and scaling, making it a promising solution for heating and electricity production in multifamily buildings.
