Characteristics of the chromium mineralization in Brezovica area

Abstract

Within Kosovo plenty of chromite occurrences are known, that work focus on one of the most interesting one, Brezovica. Chromite from that area is of podiform type. Macroscopic and microscopic survey were made to establish mineral composition of the investigated area. Macroscopic observations show that there is a big occurrences of disseminated chromite together with two types of pyroxenes: green and grey. Microscopic observation confirmed earlier studies and allowed to designate some secondary minerals like: chalcedony, serpentine group minerals or chlorite. Clear evidences of hydrothermal alteration were found e.g. Presence of altered chromite and clinochlore.
