Geological mapping of the Altiplano (SW Bolivia) based on remotely sensed images

Abstract

Tematem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest tworzenie mapy litologicznej skał i osadów wyeksponowanych na powierzchni za pomocą wielospektralnych zdjęć teledetekcyjnych. Korzystne warunki panujące w Altiplano (Boliwia) zachęcają do wykonywania badań teledetekcyjnych właśnie tutaj. Obszar ten charakteryzuje się suchym klimatem, brakiem szaty roślinnej oraz doskonale widocznymi ekspozycjami skał. Mapa powstała na podstawie zdjęć teledetekcyjnych pobranych ze strony https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/. Za pomocą tego zestawu danych, stworzone zostały odpowiednie kompozyty, indeksy międzykanałowe oraz obie klasyfikacje - ISO oraz nadzorowana.

The subject of present Master Thesis is to create a map of lithology of rocks, sediments and their residuals exposed on the land surface, based on processing and analysis of multispectral remotely sensed images. Advantageous conditions, which are present in the Altiplano (Bolivia), can encourage to performing researches right here. The area is characterized with dry climate, almost no vegetation cover and vast and clear exposures of rocks and sediments. The map was produced based on remotely sensed images downloaded from https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov website. Using this dataset, color composites, band ratios, and both supervised and unsupervised classifications have been performed.
