Studium rynku manganu z początkiem XXI w.

Abstract

Mangan stosowano już w starożytności, między innymi w procesie produkcji szkła. Obecnie swoje zastosowanie znajduje głównie w metalurgii (90%). Popyt na mangan jest silnie skorelowany z światową produkcją stali, gdyż za blisko 80% konsumpcji odpowiada przemysł stalowy. Produkcja górnicza manganu na przestrzeni XXI w. zwiększyła się ponad dwukrotnie, osiągając w 2016 r wartość 16 mln. ton netto. Światowe zasoby manganu szacowane są na 690 mln. ton (USGS2016) i w 67% znajdują się na terenach zaledwie trzech państw: RPA, Ukrainy oraz Australii. Eksperci przewidują, że w związku z stabilizującym się rynkiem stali ceny manganu zaczną wykazywać tendencje spadkową.

Manganese has been used widely in ancient times, including in glass production. Nowadays, the main application (about 90% of supply) is connected with metallurgy industry. Demand for manganese is mostly correlated with the global steel production, because the steel industry consumes almost 80% of manganese production. Mine production in XXI century grew more than twice, reaching in 2016 16 million metric tons. Global manganese reserves are estimated at 690 million tons (USGS 2016) and 67% of its share is located within three countries: South Africa, Ukraine and Australia. Specialists predict that in fact of steel market stabilization manganese prices will start to drop.
