Selected issues concerning protection of road tunnel structures and ventilation systems in relation to fire hazard

Abstract

W ostatnich latach w Polsce podejmowanych jest coraz więcej przedsięwzięć inwestycyjnych w zakresie budowy tuneli. Tunele drogowe powstają zarówno w rozbudowanych aglomeracjach miejskich jak i na terenach górzystych. Obiekty tunelowe w znaczny sposób ulepszają połączenia komunikacyjne oraz uatrakcyjniają poszczególne rejony krajów, poprzez ułatwienie dostępu do nich. Jednym z najpoważniejszych zagrożeń podczas funkcjonowania tunelu jest wybuch pożaru. Pożar w przestrzeni częściowo ograniczonej, jaką stanowi tunel, prowadzi do zagrożenia życia i zdrowia użytkowników obiektu, o czym świadczą katastrofy np. w Tunelu Mont Blanc w 1999 r. W takiej sytuacji od dobrze zaprojektowanej konstrukcji budowli tunelowej, systemu wentylacji oraz wyposażenia tunelu zależy możliwość sprawnej ewakuacji użytkowników tunelu. Na świecie zagadnienia związane z szeroko rozumianym bezpieczeństwem w tunelach drogowych są przedmiotem badań teoretycznych oraz doświadczeń wykorzystywanych w pracach projektowych i budowlanych. W artykule przedstawiono niektóre zagadnienia dotyczące konstrukcji i wentylacji tuneli drogowych w odniesieniu do zagrożenia pożarowego w tunelach drogowych.

In recent years in Poland investment in more and more tunnel construction projects and has taken place. Road tunnels are created both in complex urban and mountainous areas. Tunnels significantly improve transport links and improve areas visually by facilitating access to them. One of the most serious risks in a tunnel is an explosion of fire. A fire in a partially reduced space, which is a tunnel, will lead to a threat to the lives and health of the users of the object, as witnessed with the Mont Blanc Tunnel disaster in 1999. In well-designed building construction tunnel, the ventilation system and equipment of the tunnel allows for the possibility of the efficient evacuation of tunnel users. World issues related to safety in road tunnels are the subject of theoretical research and experiments used in design and construction. This article presents some of the issues concerning the construction and ventilation of road tunnels in relation to fire hazards in road tunnels.
