W kopalniach metan (CBM eng. Coal Bed Methane) towarzyszący eksploatacji kopaliny podstawowej - węgla kamiennego i nie ujęty przez odmetanowanie w większej części wydziela się do powietrza wentylacyjnego tworząc mieszaniny metanowo-powietrzne (VAM eng. Ventilation Air Methane) o różnej koncentracji metanu. Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza w Krakowie, Politechnika Wrocławska we Wrocławiu i Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej w Lublinie utworzyły Konsorcjum Utylizacji Metanu z Pokładów Węgla. Celem działalności Konsorcjum jest badanie nowoczesnych technologii umożliwiających utlenianie metanu z powietrza wentylacyjnego kopalń. Konsorcjum realizuje projekt Proekologiczna technologia utylizacji metanu z kopalń. W artykule przedstawiono wykonane instalacje utylizacji metanu z powietrza wentylacyjnego w skali laboratoryjnej i półtechnicznej.pl
In mines, coal bed methane (CBM) accompanying hard coal exploitation, which is not methane-drained, is mixed with ventilation air forming methane-air mixtures called VAM Ventilation Air Methane. Making use of coal bed methane is very important from economical and ecological point of view. Examinations on making use of the ventilation air methane used for electrical and heat energy production are conducted in Poland, however there are numerous technical-technological barriers making difficult development of technologies allowing taking advantage from use of such fuel. The AGH University of Science and Technology, Wroclaw University of Technology and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin have formed a Consortium of Coal Bed Methane Utilization. The Consortium is aimed at development of modern technologies allowing oxidation of ventilation air methane. A project of pro-ecological coal bed methane utilization is realised by the Consortium. Installations of utilization of the methane from ventilation air in laboratory and semi-technical scale are described in the present study.en
