Fréchet differential of a power series in Banach algebras

We present two new forms in which the Fréchet differential of a power series in a unitary Banach algebra can be expressed in terms of absolutely convergent series involving the commutant $C(T) : A \mapsto [A,T]$. Then we apply the results to study series of vector-valued functions on domains in Banach spaces and to the analytic functional calculus in a complex Banach space.

Investigations of influence of vibration on human-operator control functions

In the paper results of experimental investigations of the system operator-handle-base have been presented. The aim of investigations was to record and analyse dynamical reactions of human operator volunteers participating in the experiments on a visual, suddenly appearing step signal. The main task of each operator was tracking of the signal as precisely as possible with a push force exerted on the tool handle. The measurements were done on an especially designed stand. The stand allows to simulate vibration of the tool with chosen frequencies with or without handle isolation. Time histories of step reference and forces realized by the operator were statistically elaborated and graphically presented.

Mineralogical investigation of selected phenomenon present in Kom C, Tell el-Farcha archaeological site, the Nile Delta, Egypt

Investigation of selected samples collected coming from Kom C at Tell el Farcha site were performed using various mineralogical methods. Examination were conducted in order to identify substances as well as to explain their origin. Samples represent material filling up old fireplaces, mineralized charcoal and organic mat, dark substances coating alabaster vessels and other. Determination of the mentioned substances and samples help to understand the life in the past better.

New concept of ECT/ERT/GRT tomography for multiphase flow measurements

The multiphase flow measurements are very important tasks in many areas of industrial processes applications. One of them is undersea exploration of oil in the petroleum industry. The submitted paper presents application of multi modality: capacitance, impedance and gamma ray tomography for performing measurements of a flow composed of sea water, oil and gas flow, theoretical principles applied to design multimodality tomograph and results of experiments performed in University of Bergen. The experiments were done using ECRT tomograph designed and built in Technical University of Lodz and combined measurements of signals acquired from all measuring modalities. Measurement confirmed that multi modality approach allows to give fast and reliable on-line results of measurements of composition of multi phase flow. Applied algorithm allowed to speed up on-line measurements and presented results in a form required in industrial applications. The derived conclusions can be used as a guidelines for preparation of industrial applicable construction of tomograph.

Sonda wkręcana WST w badaniach mioceńskich iłów krakowieckich

Polish Standards concerning field investigations with application of (among others) Swedish Weight Sounding (SWS) probe gives an interpretation of results only for non cohesive soils. Scarcity of results interpretation for non cohesive soils to some extent disqualifies this tool for estimation of strength parameters of those soils. Present paper shows a proposal of interpretation of SWS probe measurement results for Miocene krakowieckie clays. The paper can be a base for future, full interpretation of cohesive soils measurement with application of SWS probe and can be useful during works in next years on Polish Standards.

Hand tracking algorithm for augmented reality systems

Augmented Reality (AR) technology can be applied to wide range of application domains. Particularly education is an area where this technology could be especially valuable. The work presented here is part of the larger project of building vision-based Augmented Reality system dedicated to educational presentations. The main contribution of this paper is robust hand tracking algorithm which utilizes color and motion information.

Trophic state assessment of Dobczyce Reservoir

In this article, the results of trophic state assessment of Dobczyce Reservoir are presented. The assessment of reservoir's trophic state was performed using traditional trophical indicators and the numerical criterion of trophic conditions (ITS). The possibility of the application of the numerical criterion of trophic conditions was confirmed on the base of correlation analysis. The tendency of the eutrophication process development in Dobczyce Reservoir and the dynamics of changes of main eutrophication factors in this reservoir were investigated. The analysis was performed based on reservoir's monitoring data collected in the period of 2002 and 2004. The access to monitoring data was provided by MPWiK S.A. in Krakow (Municipal Enterprise of Water Supply and Sewerage). Methodological basis of the presented research is theoretical and statistical analysis (correlative and regressive), performed using Statistica ver. 8.0 program.

Rozkłady dziennych stóp zwrotu i wielkości obrotów dla spółek z indeksu CAC40 i ich zmiany w okresie kryzysu finansowego

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań własności statystycznych stóp zwrotu i wielkości obrotów spółek francuskich wchodzących w skład indeksu CAC40 w okresie bezpośrednio poprzedzającym dzień 1 października 2008 przyjęty tu za początek światowego kryzysu finansowego i w czasie jego trwania. Wyniki są prezentowane dla danych dziennych w okresie od lutego 2008 do września 2008 i od października 2008 do maja 2009. Okazuje się, że najlepiej opisuje rozkłady stóp zwrotu rozkład hiperboliczny, natomiast logarytm wielkości obrotów rozkład normalny odwrotny gaussowski (NIG). Zmiany wielkości parametrów dla poszczególnych spółek indeksu są istotne, cechuje je jednak duża wariancja.

Analysis of the quality of academic education of geodesy and cartography graduates with respect to employment in geodesy administration

W artykule przedstawiono analizę jakości wykształcenia akademickiego absolwentów kierunku geodezja i kartografia w aspekcie zatrudnienia w administracji geodezyjnej. Podjęta tematyka jest aktualna ze względu na pojawiające się w środowisku dyskusje o słabym przygotowaniu absolwentów do pracy w urzędach. Przedstawiony został zatem system kształcenia studentów na poziomie inżynierskim oraz magisterskim z uwzględnieniem częściowego omówienia programów przedmiotów na poszczególnych specjalnościach. Następnie przedstawiono sylwetkę absolwenta pod kontem oczekiwań pracodawców oraz wymagań urzędów geodezyjnych. Przedstawiono również kwalifikacje, jakie powinien posiadać absolwent zgodnie z zaleceniami Rady Głównej Szkolnictwa Wyższego. Na koniec przytoczone zostały przykładowe oferty urzędów na różne stanowiska w wydziałach geodezji i katastru.

Analiza stateczności obwałowań przeciwpowodziowych rzeki Kanał Strumień

Changes of water level in a river and accompanying changes of ground water level in dikes are very crucial for stability analysis of flood embankments. Unfortunately a designer not always has a complete knowledge about water levels changes and time for when water stays on the certain level. The paper shows a proposal of complex analysis of the problem in case of lack of hydrogeological data. Stability calculations of were made as a supplement of reconstruction of embankments. One of the elements of the project was construction of a impermeable vertical hermetic dividing wall with application of DSM ground columns.

Kryzys ekonomiczny. Globalne i lokalne spojrzenie polskiej prasy

One of the sociological features of the current economic crises had been its beginning as a media fact rather than economic reality for ordinary people in Poland. Until the very end of 2008 the offi cial strategy of Polish government was denying of present of any economic crises in Poland: <i>The Polish economy as well as Polish banking system are used to be healthy and in good conditions and we will be suffer a little slow done because we are not an island</i>. Unfortunately it occurs not to be true. Based on discourse analysis of two major Polish daily and two weekly we would like to show the evolution of narrative describing crises in global terms and particularly at the domestic market. What was the picture of global crises at the beginning of this discussion, how it supposed to affect Poland, who serve as experts and opinion givers and fi nally how through the language we can observe the change from »slow down« to »crises«? This are basic questions we would like to answer in our text.

Cyfrowy obserwator LQ w układzie 2-masowym

Artykuł przedstawia propozycję obserwatora prędkości kątowej maszyny roboczej w 2-masowym układzie napędowym (z połączeniem sprężystym). Przedstawiono system regulacji bazujący na obserwowanych zmiennych stanu: prędkości agregatu i momentu skręcającego. W celu spełnienia ograniczeń prądowych silnika zastosowano dodatkowy regulator PI prądu twornika. Optymalizację obserwatora zmiennych stanu przeprowadzono w oparciu o dualizm i dyskretny problem LQ.

Bifurcation in a nonlinear steady state system

The steady state solutions of a nonlinear digital cellular neural network with $\omega$ neural units and a nonnegative variable parameter $\lambda$ are sought. We show that $\lambda = 1$ is a critical value such that the qualitative behavior of our network changes. More specifically, when $\omega$ is odd, then for $\lambda \in [0,1)$, there is one positive and one negative steady state, and for $\lambda \in [1,\infty)$, steady states cannot exist; while when $\omega$ is even, then for $\lambda \in [0,1)$, there is one positive and one negative steady state, and for $\lambda = 1$, there are no nontrivial steady states, and for $\lambda \in (1,\infty)$, there are two fully oscillatory steady states. Furthermore, the number of existing nontrivial solutions cannot be improved. It is hoped that our results are of interest to digital neural network designers.

The influence of iron powder and disintegrated steel scrap additives on the solidification of cast iron

The study proves that by introducing the iron powder and disintegrated steel scrap to low-sulphur cast iron still before the inoculation carried out with a conventional graphitising inoculant, the mechanical properties similar to those obtained during the inoculation treatment carried out on cast iron with the recommended high sulphur content are achieved. The said operation increases the number of crystallisation nuclei for dendrites of the primary austenite. In this case, the iron particles act as substrates for the nucleation of primary austenite gp due to a similar crystallographic behaviour of the regular face centered cubic lattice The more numerous are the dendrites of primary austenite, the less free space is available in the interdendritic spaces for the formation of graphite eutectic grains, which makes the structure more refined (more eutectic grains) and the mechanical properties higher.

Determination of angular standard deviation with total stations

A compact, laboratory based method is introduced that verifies the angular measuring accuracy of surveying instruments. Angular measurements are carried out with collimators. The method has been optimized in regards to meeting stringent space and time requirements. It is suited for service workshops or institutions with limited space available.

Beziłowa płuczka wiertnicza przeznaczona do wierceń HDD na bazie nowego polimeru PT-51

Horizontal directional drilling are more often used in engineer practice. They have to improve living standard by allowing electricity, fuel and information transport and by building municipal water supply systems. When the ground methods are too expensive, or impossible the underground installations will be perfect solution. They enable to avoid easily the obstacles such as: roads, buildings or even rivers. The drilling muds are one of the most important elements of HDD technology. Choosing optimal mud system help maximalize drilling progress and minimalize risk of investment. The article presents results of research into drilling mud for HDD method with the addition of new polymer PT-51 modified by CO-3 ions. It was also tested against salt monovalent and bivalent contamination, the temperature resistance and lubricity. The results show that composed mud can be applicable in the industry.

Uszkodzenia budynków i deformacje terenu wywołane eksploatacją górniczą w silnie naruszonym górotworze w dzielnicy Wirek w Rudzie Śląskiej

Mining operations in the Ruda Śląska region lasts from about 300 years. Therefore the surrounding rock mass are strongly affected. For this reason is very difficult to determine the effects of future exploitation. The paper describes the analysis of the influence of the underground exploitation on the land surface and the urban development. Analysis was related to the south area of the Wirek district. Considerations based on the results of geodesic surveys, in situ observations and photographical documentation of buildings. Geodesic measurements were carried out on the earth's measuring line and the points embedded in the walls of buildings. The analysis shows the large deformation of the surface and strong damage to buildings. The effects of the mining operation reached well above the forecast.
