One type of pollution is the noise that is generated by technological apparatus. It is necessary to develop new tools that will be able to survey noise in large industrial areas. This paper presents a concept of using unmanned aerial vehicles to generate acoustic maps of a surveyed area. One of the tools that is required for this purpose is aerial photogrammetry, which is used to generate a numerical terrain model from a series of photographs. The methodology and results of the simulation study of the effect of the data-acquisition-process parameters (flight altitude and transverse and longitudinal overlay levels of images) on the quality of the generated numerical terrain model and the generating time are presented in this paper.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Manual versus Digital Classification of UAV Images in Oak Phenological Studies(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Będkowski, KrzysztofThis research concerns the phenological phenomenon of the autumn discolorations of sessile oak leaves as the trees prepare for winter dormancy. Sessile oak trees were categorized into five classes according to the general colors of their crowns: from green to brown. Low-altitude UAV-acquired images from the visible B, G, and R bands were used, compared, and evaluated against the results of several classification methods: those that were carried out in the field, visually based on orthomosaic observations, and four variants of digital classification. The analysis showed that those methods that were based on observer assessments were highly subjective. At the same time, there was also the problem of the reference data to which the results of the individual methods could be referred. It was expected that the analyzed phenomenon of tree-crown discoloration would be better visible in aerial photographs than in field observations"," However, visual color classifications using orthomosaics can be too subjective (as has been shown). It is recommended to use supervised digital classification with a careful selection of reference (training) objects. To switch from pixel-classification results to individual tree classifications, a novel approach was adopted in which the class value that was most abundant within the images of each canopy (determined by the supervised classification method selected) could be used. Photogrammetric studies based on UAV data, thanks to the significant development of computer vision techniques, photogrammetry, and equipment miniaturization, allow sufficient accuracy for many engineering and non-engineering applications to be achieved. In addition to accuracy, development time and cost of data acquisition and processing are also important issues. The aim of this paper is to present potential limitations in the use of UAVs to acquire measurement data and to present measurement and processing techniques affecting the optimisation of work both in terms of accuracy and economy. Nowadays, measurement with the use of drones is developing very quickly. There are many factors, but the biggest impact has to be the technological progress, which brings new systems, techniques, and measuring instruments every year with much-better parameters and improved accuracy. In the era of the Internet and computerization, elaboration of the measurement results from these devices becomes more transparent and easy to use, therefore, traditional paper maps are being replaced by digital maps, which are much more convenient to use when correcting errors or when applying new data. The area where the subject of the work has been studied is located in the voivodeship of Kielce. The area that was surveyed is the National Road No. 7 on the mileage section from 561.6 to 563.3. This study was made possible thanks to Flytech Technology Co., Ltd., of Krakow for providing the necessary materials. This study aims to show one of the many aspects in which an unmanned aerial vehicle can be used. Data from the UAV method are new sources of information about the study area, therefore, an attempt to acquire data and survey the road infrastructure has contributed to completing the messages contained in this report. The relevant research has been conducted all over the world for a dozen or so years in various scientific research centres. The paper presents results of research obtained by various agencies, and shows the concept of research on aerial vehicles completed with the cooperation of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland. Research issues focus mainly on geometry and radiometry of recorded images. The authors examined whether the acquisition of data from UAVs can replace field measurements or only support them.
