Actualization of data concerning surface flowing waters, based on INSPIRE Directive requirements

Currently, Poland is at the stage of creating and implementing the provisions of the law related to the formation of infrastructure for spatial information. New legislation is to ensure consistency of the databases on which maps will be generated. It is required that the database created pursuant to the INSPIRE Directive is kept up to date. Implementation of completely new surveys, based on which the correct data collections would be created, is almost impossible due to the time and costs of their execution. Due to the large variability in time, the most vulnerable to obsolescence database elements will be those in the area of surface (sea, flowing and standing) water. It is there, irrevocably, to be checked whether it is necessary to amend the previously existing data collections.

Analiza wydajności przetwarzania danych przestrzennych w NoSQL-owych bazach danych

Temat projektu obejmuje zagadnienie składowania danych geograficznych w NoSQL-owych bazach danych. Podjęto próbę oceny wydajności nierelacyjnej bazy danych MongoDB wraz z jej wbudowanymi funkcjami przestrzennymi w odniesieniu do bazy PostgreSQL z rozszerzeniem przestrzennym PostGIS. Do testów zostały przygotowane skrypty pozwalające na wielokrotne wykonywanie tych samych zapytań i obliczające wybrane parametry. Ponadto przedstawiono główne zalety i wady baz danych NoSQL w kontekście możliwości operowania na danych przestrzennych.

W pracy przeanalizowano zagadnienie raportowania danych na podstawie relacyjnych baz danych w połączeniu z dostarczaniem raportu jako załącznika wiadomości e-mail. Projekt inżynierski stanowi modułowy system, który integruje wybrane narzędzia programistyczne. Przedstawiono proces poszukiwania odpowiedniego rozwiązania problemu. Wynikiem projektu jest autorska aplikacja internetowa. Dodatkowo zbadano kompatybilność innych silników baz danych niż domyślny.

Knowledge representation and inference for analysis and design of databases and tabular rule-based systems

Rule-based systems constitute a powerful tool for specification of knowledge in design and implementation of knowledge-based systems. They provide also a universal programming paradigm for domains such as intelligent control, decision support, situation classification and operational knowledge encoding. In order to assure safe and reliable performance, such systems should satisfy certain formal requirements, including completeness and consistency. This paper addresses the issue of analysis and verification of selected properties of a class of such systems in a systematic way. A uniform, tabular scheme of single-level rule-based systems is considered. Such systems can be applied as a generalized form of databases for specification of data patterns (unconditional knowledge), or can be used for defining attributive decision tables (conditional knowledge in form of rules). They can also serve as lower-level components of a hierarchical, multi-level control and decision support knowledge-based systems. An algebraic knowledge representation paradigm using extended tabular representation, similar to relational database tables is presented and algebraic bases for system analysis, verification and design support are outlined.

First chapter describes theoretical information, basic definitions and SQL’s language components. Next chapter presents mandatory standards in storing spatial data. Last chapter documents practical implementation of standards in free and comercial database managment systems.

The first chapter of the work includes information on operating systems and databases. The second chapter describes the place and the software used for testing. It also includes a plan of building the tables in the databases, and introduces the commands that were used for testing. The third chapter describes the test performance of each of the databases, using different variants. In the fourth chapter was presented a summary of results for each of the tested databases. The fifth chapter contains the conclusions of the study of the database performance.

The aim of this paper is a proposition of the new replication method for distributed systems with large number of nodes, which is suitable for systems in which demand on high level of scalability is a key issue. The approach is designed for systems working in heterogeneous environments with various platforms, operating systems or database vendors. The article contains presentation of Theta method, description of the communication layer and system components, and presentation of transaction management for the proposed method.

Researches in database replication field, which have been made in recent years, allowed to design and implement many approaches for database replication. The most important features of proposed solutions are improved scalability and system's fault tolerance, and as a result of both of them increased overall performance and availability of the replication systems. Majority of recent approaches for transactional data replication are based on multilayer architectures with middleware tier between client and database tier. In this article there is a presentation of solutions used for realization of middleware-based database replication.

Selection of databases for real estate information systems

Celem artykułu jest przeanalizowanie rodzajów baz danych i wybranie najbardziej odpowiedniego dla systemów informatycznych rynku nieruchomości (systemami REM). Scharakteryzowano problematykę analizy rynku nieruchomości i wyceny oraz przedstawiono rodzaje systemów, które powinny być utworzone. Wyróżniono dwa główne typy systemów, które powinny wchodzić w skład systemów informatycznych rynku nieruchomości są to system monitorująco-analizujący globalną sytuację na rynku nieruchomości (System M-A) oraz system ekspertowy, który będzie przeznaczony do analizy rynku lokalnego i wyceny nieruchomości na rynku lokalnym (System REE). Przedstawiono problematykę z punktu widzenia baz danych. Opisano charakterystykę różnych rodzajów baz danych pod kątem przydatności oraz zdecydowano, które rodzaje znajdują największe zastosowanie. Analizą zostały objęte: relacyjne bazy danych, obiektowe bazy danych, obiektowo-relacyjne bazy danych oraz bazy typu NoSQL. Dla systemu M-A zaproponowano bazę typu NoSQL, natomiast dla systemu REE bazy obiektowo-relacyjne lub obiektowe.

System informacji o archiwalnych mapach górniczych MICARIS - na przykładzie polskich salin

Based on the Mine Cartography Information System (MICARIS), created at AGH-UST, the most important elements of this system were presented, including databases made according to a uniform pattern (Tab. 1) for each Unit possessing archive maps. The created files were then analyzed, checked and converted in the GeoNetwork XML program (Figs 1, 2) to .xml format and imported to MICARIS system based on the open source platform of GeoNetwork. An example of such a map in this system was presented in figure 3. In tables 2-4 and figures 2-4 the oldest mining maps were presented, referring to the exploitation of salt in Poland, starting from 17th century. Also a short characteristic of cartographic sets was given as well as the advantages connected with publishing them in the Internet.
