Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaPraca przedstawia projekt aplikacji RheologySim, służącej do obliczeń parametrów reologicznych płynów wiertniczych. Aplikacja umożliwia wyznaczanie naprężeń stycznych, lepkości pozornej oraz parametrów modeli reologicznych takich jak: model Newtona, Binghama, Ostwalda de Waele, Cassona. Do implementacji wykorzystano nowoczesne technologie z rodziny ASP.NET Core, dane przechowywane są w chmurze Microsoft AZURE. Przedstawiona aplikacja została podzielona na trzy części wykorzystując projekty ASP.NET Core typu ClassLib, Web API, MVC, dzięki czemu pozwala na łatwą rozbudowę i ma duże możliwości rozwoju.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Assessment of the possibility of enzymatic decomposition of cellulose blockers(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Turkiewicz, Anna; Kapusta, PiotrThe article discusses two series of the biodegradation tests of organic blockers used in drilling mud technology. Degradation process of the selected cellulose blockers in terms of quality was assessed by the colorimetric method. In all test solutions these tests revealed the presence of free glucose which is the final product of degradation of modified cellulose from which blockers were made. The beginning of the degradation process was noted already after 48 hours of the impact of enzymatic preparations on samples of blockers. The progress of the degradation process after 30 and 40 days of incubation was assessed by gravimetric method by draining sludge and marking blocker dry matter after enzymatic impact, comparing the sludge matter in samples with the specified enzyme to control samples without the addition of the enzyme. The research described in the work may be useful in the oil industry as they contain data (from laboratory-scale tests) on potential treatments with the use of enzymatic preparations. The purpose of laboratory examination was to estimate the impact of different polymer inhibitors for hydration of clays and shales. A laboratory test were performed in order to estimate the concentration of polymer inhibitors in preventing the phenomena taking place in contact with the shale rocks – drilling mud. Additionally, drilling mud plays a crucial role in wellbore stability, as one of its main uses is to support the wellbore wall during the drilling operation. However, ignorance of the effects of drilling mud on the mechanical properties of rock formation can also lead to well failure. The stability of the wellbore is also influenced by pore pressure during the drilling process. The analysis of changes in rock poroelastic parameters after drilling mud saturation was found to be useful regarding the abovementioned issues. Therefore, the measurement of the dynamic Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio and Biot's coefficient of sandstone samples was carried out to determine their trends of variations with confining pressure in different conditions such as dry, water and drilling mud filtrate saturation. The findings indicate that both the dynamic Young's modulus and the Poisson's ratio of the sandstone rock increased after saturation with water and drilling mud filtrate, while the Biot's coefficient was reduced. Furthermore, the velocity of the P wave, the dynamic Young's modulus and the dynamic Poisson's ratio of the sandstone rock were proportional to the confining pressure, while the Biot's coefficient were inversely proportional to the confining pressure. The results imply that effective stress calculation can be influenced by changes in poroelastic parameters established from geophysical measurements, and risk management of wellbore stability stability was increased.Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Effect of the HDD drilling mud on the environment(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Druzgała, Angelika; Formela, Małgorzata MariaHorizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a trenchless method commonly used for laying various types of pipelines and cables. It is a common way of routing a technological line from one point to another by directional drilling under obstacles or in ecologically sensitive areas. The HDD can be used, for example, under rivers, roads or slopes where conventional excavation technologies would not be cost effective, reliable or may be environmentally invasive. One of the important elements influencing the success of horizontal directional drilling is a drilling fluid appropriately selected for the drilling conditions. Specific character of HDD causes specific parameters of drilling mud. Searching for innovated solutions is important to fulfill increasing technological requirements. The paper presents results of lab research on modified bentonite PT-85. Research of reological parametrs, mono- and multivalent ions contamination resistance and lubricity was conducted. Rheological models for tested mud were presented also. Tested polymers have been synthetized at the Drilling, Oil and Gas Faculty of AGH UST Krakow. Reducing hydration, hence swelling, is a great concern in light of borehole wall stability maintenance. Muds commonly used for drilling by abovementioned technique are often blend of unknown ingredients. Thus, it should be carefully tested for addition of hydration inhibitors at the early stage of mud formula preparation. The paper includes research formula and results of technological parameters of modified HDD mud. Moreover, there were conducted tests of QSE Pellets swelling and linear swelling of test samples collected from boreholes drilled by HDD technique.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , New mud for drilling in clay and shale rocks with cationic KAN-001 polymer(2015) Wysocki, Sławomir; Stec, Maciej; Artym, RafałThis paper presents laboratory researches on KAN-001 cationic polymer application dedicated for drilling fluids used in drilling through sensitive shale formation and also the formulation of a new mud system for drilling in clayish rocks. Laboratory researches showed the great utility of KAN-001 polymer, synthesized in AGH-UST, for its application in special drilling fluids for shale and clay rocks. A new mud system – Mud-17 – with an addition of KAN-001 polymer, is distinguished by good technological parameters. It is resistant against univalent and divalent salts contamination. Therefore, a new mud system can be salted up to the saturation. Mud-17 is also resistant against high temperature, so it can be used in deep wells.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Prevention of gas migration in the area of the Carpathian Foothills in the laboratory tests(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Uliasz, Małgorzata; Kremieniewski, MarcinIn the area of the Carpathian Foothills, gas exhalations are a frequently observed phenomenon. It is connected with the presence of many shallow gas horizons in the autochthonous Miocene. In addition, gas migration effect is intensified due to the complicated geological structure in this region. During drilling boreholes, one of the most important requirements is to ensure adequate tightness in the annular space. In connection with the above, laboratory tests were carried out in the Oil and Gas Institute - National Research Institute, whose aim was to assess the impact of applied drilling fluids on the degree of sealing the annular space on the contact hardened cement slurry - rock formation, for specific geological and technical conditions. The result of the conducted research work was a modification of the composition of washing fluids in terms of improving the efficiency of their impact on the wall of borehole and removal of mudcake formed by the drilling muds, as well as modification of cement slurry formulations by application appropriate additives to prevent gas migration. During research work have been indicated potential causes of gas migration from the annular space in the selected holes drilled in the Carpathian Foothills and preventive actions aimed at reduction gas migration and exhalation.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Rotary - percussion drilling method - historical review and current possibilities of application(2015) Sapińska-Śliwa, Aneta; Wiśniowski, Rafał; Korzec, Michał; Gajdosz, Artur; Śliwa, Tomasz»Faster, deeper, cheaper« - it is not just a slogan, it is a motto of every oil company. The first application of rotary-percussion drilling method in drilling oil wells took place in early 60's of the XX century in the United States. Unfortunately, in Poland did not apply. First of all, the main advantage is the inereased rate of penetration, in comparison with standard rotary drilling, and consequently - lower wellbore costs. The purpose of present paper is to discuss the historical background of application of rotary-percussion drilling method, technological changes that have occurred over the years, and to show the potential of this drilling method, using modern technology, in comparison with standard rotary method.
