This new class is based on the cumulative paired Φ-divergence that generalizes both the cumulative (residual) entropy and the differential entropy. The Φ-chart contains several subclasses, of which one has a special case, the G-chart, which uses Gini’s mean difference as a measure of dispersion. We investigate the performance of three of the subclasses of Φ-charts in a showcase scenario, comparing its average run length under the Gaussian and several alternative distributions relevant for process control. We find especially the new Leik control chart to outperform classical Shewhart charts, which are based on ranks, standard deviation, or Gini’s mean difference. The results imply that monitoring a production process using Φ-charts results in a faster detection of out-of-control processes, which can be crucial for a variety of application areas.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Model entropii dla węglonośnych utworów karbonu górnego Zagłębia Górnośląskiego i próba jego geologicznej interpretacji(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Doktor, Marek; Krawczyk, Andrzej J.The paper presents the model of entropy for the coal-bearing formations of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin. The coal-bearing formations include exclusively continental (fluvial) sediments in their upper parts and paralic sediments in the lower parts, the latter composed of partly continental, partly near-shore deposits laid down in broadly understood sea coast environment (shoreline, sand bars, beaches, etc.). For studies 18 boreholes were selected in which both the continental and the paralic successions were represented. For all lithofacies distinguished in all successions the normalized, pre- and post-depositional entropies were calculated. Then, successions were categorized on the basis of these calculations. The dendrogram shows three groups of successions from which the first corresponds almost exclusively to the Paralic Series and the second one - to the Mudstone Series. The street network plays a crucial role in shaping the spatial structure and morphological characteristics of a city. This study aims to identify street network orientation, entropy, and circuity patterns and to classify their typologies across eight metropolitan cities in Indonesia. The analysis utilized secondary data from OpenStreetMap (OSM), processed through the OpenStreetMap NetworkX (OSMnx) software. The three main variables analyzed were orientation, entropy, and circuity. The results reveal that metropolitan cities in Indonesia exhibit varying street network patterns, which include both grid-like and dispersed forms. Based on the clustering analysis, the cities were grouped into four clusters: Cluster 1 comprises only Medan; Cluster 2 includes Surabaya; Cluster 3 comprises Bandung, Jakarta, Makassar, and Semarang; and Cluster 4 contains Bandar Lampung and Palembang. The results show that cities in different clusters require distinct planning approaches due to the varying characteristics of their street networks. These findings provide valuable insights into the organization and structure of urban street networks, offering a foundation for more efficient and sustainable transportation infrastructure planning at the national level
