Nowadays, quantity of drilling waste and their chemical composition are serious problems concerning environmental protection and also their recycling or storage. A large share of activities are oriented to the precise recognition of hazards and use of solutions thanks to which the negative environmental effects of mining activity can be considerably reduced. Issues related to the recovery of water after hydraulic fracturing with emphasis on the possible utilization and management of fluids after hydraulic fracturing in Polish conditions are discussed in view of the respective law.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , An analysis of the chemistry, mineralogy and texture of waste dolomite powder used to identify its potential application in industry(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Gruszecka-Kosowska, Agnieszka; Wdowin, Magdalena; Kosowski, Tomasz; Klimek, AgnieszkaIn this work, characterization of dolomite powder was carried out in order to specify possible industrial applications. After the technological use of dolomite aggregates, the remaining fine powder becomes a waste. Raw and calcined powder samples were subject to mineralogical, textural and chemical studies involving leaching tests. The results of the calcination process indicate that the carbonate minerals present in the material sample undergo complete decomposition to form oxides. After the calcination, the material is practically non-porous, and its surface area is more than five times lower than that of the raw material. However, due to the high content of calcia in the calcined sample (CaO > 45% wt.), the material cannot be used as an additive in cement. The leaching tests showed that the concentration of metals released from the dolomite powder is low enough to classify the material as hazardous waste according to the TCLP test. Moreover, the concentration of metals that can get into the environment does not exceed permissible values as set by Polish law. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaPraca magisterska stanowi studium systemu zarządzania środowiskiem w firmie Nidec Motors & Actuators w Niepołomicach. Zawiera charakterystykę systemu bazującego na wymaganiach normy ISO 14001:2004, a także opisuje proces wdrożenia najnowszej wersji ISO 14001:2015. Adaptacja systemu zarządzania środowiskiem oparta została na analizie obu wersji normy i identyfikacji zakresu podlegającego zmianom. W pracy przedstawiono charakterystykę zakładu, historię zarządzania środowiskowego, a także standardu ISO 14001. Uwzględnia zmiany, które wprowadzono po nowelizacji normy, jak również proces adaptacji przedsiębiorstwa do zaistniałych warunków. Wynikiem podjętych działań było wdrożenie wymagań najnowszej normy, w efekcie czego firma pozytywnie przeszła audyt środowiskowy i przedłużyła ważność certyfikatu środowiskowego.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analysis of the granulation process mechanism - stand and scope of experimental investigations(2011) Kamińska, Jadwiga; Dańko, JózefThe paper presents the basic issues related with the post-reclamation dust management by using the technique of agglomeration by granulation. Post reclamation dust derives from different types of molding sands and has different susceptibility for granulation process. Theoretical aspects of granulation are discussed along with the mechanism of this process presented in current literature. Additionally paper describes the experimental test stand for granulation the post reclamation dust and the scope of planned scientific research.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Badanie jakości wód podziemnych w rejonie składowiska odpadów "Za Białą"(2008) Macuda, JanLandfills contaning waste produced by the chemical and energy industry exert a very strong impact on all elements of natural environment. Their negative influence concentrates on ground and water environment, especially in the case of unsealed or badly sealed landfills. Toxic seepages infiltrating ground- and surface waters are formed. The combined study methods included structural and phase investigations (X-ray diffractometry, infrared FTIR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy) and instrumental chemical determinations. The results characterize mineral and phase composition of the samples, their microstructure and chemical composition. The authors focused on the specific nature of polymer-clay complexes, which in drilling mud systems have the form of delaminated or exfoliated organic-clay polymer nanocomposites that control properties of such waste materials. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaWermikulit jest minerałem ilastym z grupy hydromik. Wermikulit należy do krzemianów warstwowych o typie budowy 2:1. Ten minerał należy do sorbentów ilastych. Sorbenty mineralne charakteryzują się zdolnością do wymiany jonowej, przede wszystkim kationów. Często wermikulit jest modyfikowany poprzez ekspandowanie w celu uzyskania poszerzenia jego właściwości. Wermikulit powstaje w procesach naturalnego wietrzenia biotytu, flogopitu, niektórych chlorytów oraz innych krzemianów zasobnych w magnez. Ten minerał ma szerokie zastosowanie, a najważniejsze jest w ochronie środowiska. Wyniki dyfraktogramu wskazują na to, że badana próbka jest minerałem mieszanopakietowym wermikulit/illit. Maksymalna wielkość sorpcji wermikulitu dla ołowiu wynosi około 500 mmol Pb/kg, a dla kadmu wynosi około 300 mmol Cd/kg. Wermikulit w porównaniu z innymi często stosowanymi sorbentami mineralnymi odznacza się wyjątkowo dobrymi zdolnościami sorpcyjnymi.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Closure and aftercare regime for landfills below the water table(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2005) Rapthel, MartinaThe closure and after care regime for landfills below the water table is discussed. Basic conditions and variants established for the environment-compatible closure and after-care of sub-aquatic landfills were developed and investigated. The German landfill 'Halle-Lochau' is a typical example of such a landfill in a former open cast mining. The optimal solution determined by the research project will be the basis for the closure regime of the Halle-Lochau landfill. One type of pollution is the noise that is generated by technological apparatus. It is necessary to develop new tools that will be able to survey noise in large industrial areas. This paper presents a concept of using unmanned aerial vehicles to generate acoustic maps of a surveyed area. One of the tools that is required for this purpose is aerial photogrammetry, which is used to generate a numerical terrain model from a series of photographs. Newly established mines were given area more than once with hard geological-mining conditions or localized under urbanized or ecological lands. Staszic hard coal mine is extracting the material in very difficult conditions connected with nature values of the mining land. The suitable capacity of the injection layer is related to its porosities, fissuring, effective permeability and to spatial structure of the geological layer. Factors determining the capacity of injection wells used for underground storage are discussed in the article. There is urgent need of balancing landuse development by protection of the most valuable areas and proving their importance to the world heritage of nature. Studies performed by the Polish Scientific Expedition to Peru since 2003 are aimed at project of the Canyon Colca and Valley of Volcanoes National Park. This park should protect a unique section of the orogenic belt 100 km long and 1-3 km high, magnificient landscape, sets of active faults, volcanoes, hot springs and specific wildlife including the largest condor habitat in the Andes. New park would strenghten the state protected areas system in the Arequipa department, increase its tourist attractiveness and determine constraints of regional development. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaCelem pracy jest identyfikacja zanieczyszczeń oraz projekt monitoringu powietrza dla Dąbrowy Tarnowskiej. Dokonano analizy obszaru pod kątem występowania zanieczyszczeń powietrza oraz ich potencjalnych źródeł. Korzystając z Rozporządzenia Ministra Środowiska z dnia 24 sierpnia 2012 roku w sprawie niektórych poziomów zanieczyszczeń w powietrzu przedstawiono wartości dopuszczalnych stężeń oraz ich klasyfikację względem kryterium ochrony zdrowia i ochrony roślin. Na podstawie wyników badań ze stacji manualnych i automatycznych zawartych w informacji o stanie środowiska dla powiatu dąbrowskiego w poszczególnych latach, omówiono zmienność stężeń szkodliwych substancji w powietrzu oraz ich stan na rok 2014. Przybliżono szczegółowo rodzaje zanieczyszczeń przekraczające dopuszczalne wartości oraz ich wpływ na zdrowie człowieka. Uznano, że głównymi emiterami zanieczyszczeń do atmosfery są przestarzale instalacje grzewcze oraz zanieczyszczenia komunikacyjne. W ramach badań jakości powietrza oraz podnoszenia świadomości społeczeństwa zaprojektowano mobilną stację pomiarową w centrum miasteczka.
