Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Ewolucjonistyczny feminizm Sarah Blaffer Hrdy(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Łuczaj, KamilThe article presents a proposal of combining the results of biological research with a feminist paradigm presented in the American context by Sarah Blafter Hrdy. Through analysis of the ideas contained in the main works of this author I would like to bring her voice to the dispute between the evolutionists and the social constructivists. I believe that the use of stereotype breaking results of biological research can significantly increase the argumentative force of feminism. Popularization of Sarah Hrdy's legacy may be the first step to overcome the misunderstandings which have accrued so far.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Female protagonists in contemporary icelandic cinema(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Konefał, Sebastian JakubModern Iceland is a country where women effectively fight for political power and social safety. However, an analysis of female characters appearing in Icelandic movies produced between 1992 and 2012 may lead to a quite different conclusion. Many film scenarios present the heroines as the victims of domestic violence who struggle not only with alcoholism and brutal behaviour of their partners, but also with a hostile social system. Such images refer to historical and literary heritage. Pessimistic perspective of Icelandic cinema serves as a source of social criticism focusing on important problems of everyday life. What is interesting, the cinema of Ulthima Thule also presents certain alternatives to victimized models of female characters. This kind of film figure in contemporary Icelandic cinema is a strong and independent woman who may be considered as a mix of classical femme fatale and post-modernistic female warrior. Such a female figure is connceted with Icelandic romanticized symbols of nature from the XIX century and their XX and XXI century reinterpretations. The popularity of strong movie heroines proves that women's struggle for political power in Iceland has influenced cinema language and its interests.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Feminizm a demokracja - krytyka i reinterpretacja(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Zielińska, KatarzynaDemocracy is based on the premise of eliminating all the differences based on such factors as gender, racc, class, ethnicity, age, by defining all who belong to the community as equal citizens enjoying the same rights and duties. However, feminist critics clearly show that the hidden premises underlying various democratic systems can to a great extent differentiate the position of women and men in the given political community. The objective of this article is to show the feminist critique of democratic theories and attempts at reinterpreting them which aim at fuller inclusion of women in the democratic system.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , O metodologii feministycznej ogólnie i osobiście(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Kowalska, BeataThe idea that there arc distinctive feminist methods, methodology, epitstemology or ontology is widely contested. Our methodologies are settled in the female experience and inseparably associated with feminist ethics, theories, politics - often competing with each other within feminism. However, in spite of all these differences our entire work aims to establish political and ethical assumptions concerning just social relations, putting debates on power relations at the centre. Critical reflection on the place of the researcher in the process of knowledge production is most often indicated feature of feminist research.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Olha Kbylianska and Eliza Orzeszkowa: two women, one idea(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2013) Lange, AnjaOlha Kobylianska and Eliza Orzeszkowa lived nearly at the same time, at the end of the 19$^{th}$ century. Both wrote novels about the faith, life and identity of women, especially about the gender roles of men and women, therefore I call their novels feministic ones. I consider them to be key works of feminism because they show the situation of women in their time. The aim of this article is to compare the novels Tsarivna by Kobylianska and Marta by Orzeszkowa to discuss some aspects of the situation of women in the 19$^{th}$ century in Eastern Europe.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Porównanie idei feministek klasycznych i współczesnych z Rosji i Ukrainy - na przykładzie zespołów: "Pussy Riot" i "Femen"(Data obrony: 2015-09-30) Shcherbak, Margaryta
Wydział HumanistycznyItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Sex i shopping – związki i paralele. Refleksja kulturoznawcza(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Skowronek, KatarzynaThe article deals with the relations between sex and shopping (wider: the contemporary forms of sexuality and lifestyle of consumerism) and biological, psychosocial, cultural reasons of such connections. The author analyses jokes about sex&shopping, popular scientific media texts, movies and popular literature, in which the two ideas sex&shopping are collected and compared. She also shows material categories: sex industry, prostitution, sponsoring. She investigates in which economical and social conditions the symbiosis of sex and shopping is successful. She hypothesizes that the formula sex&shopping is a kind of important metaphor for the contemporary society, shows the constant emancipation ambitions of women in the realm of economics and sex, characterizes »singles’ culture« and the one type of feminism at the turn of 20thc., which is named power-dressing or glamour feminism.
