Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , An attempt to determine the cause of the strong tremor responsible for a rockburst in a hard coal mine based on numerical modeling and spectral parameters(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Wojtecki, Łukasz; Krawiec, Krzysztof; Ćwiękała, Mateusz; Dzik, GrażynaSeismic and rockburst hazards represent significant challenges during the longwall mining of coal seams. One analytical approach to assess the potential for rockburst hazards involves reconstructing the stress conditions within the rock mass. This article reports on the findings from three-dimensional (3D) numerical modeling aimed at examining the distribution of maximum shear stress within the rock mass amid the longwall mining operations of the 703/1 coal seam in a mine situated in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, Poland which was disrupted by a rockburst incident. On the day of the rockburst, substantial concentrations of maximum shear stress were identified in a thick sandstone layer proximate to the boundary of the overlying 624 coal seam located significantly above the 703/1 coal seam. The calculated maximum shear stress demonstrated an increase of approximately 80% over the values observed in the absence of edge effects. Furthermore, also higher concentration of maximum shear stress was identified within the geologically weaker strata adjacent to the 703/1 coal seam. These observations facilitated the classification of the examined rockburst as a stress-stroke phenomenon. Additionally, the study determined the spectral parameters of the tremor, which possessed an energy of 9.8 × 10$^{7}$ J and triggered the analyzed rockburst. The ratio of the seismic energy of S and P-waves confirmed a shear mechanism in the focus. The scope of inelastic deformation within the focal zone was also quantified. Following the event, the rock mass that had been destressed due to the significant tremor and subsequent rockburst exhibited reduced seismic activity upon the resumption of longwall mining of the 703/1 coal seam.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Badania laboratoryjne flotacji węgla w obecności odczynnika RFK-X(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Lenartowicz, Marek; Grynkiewicz-Bylina, BeataFlotation agents determine floatability of coal slimes and decide whether or not flotation can be used as a method for coal slimes beneficiation on an industrial scale. Presently, complex flotation agents are used by the coal industry because they play a role of collector, frother and promoter. Results of laboratory tests of flotation of coal of type 34.2 and 35.1 with the use of new RFK-X comprehensive flotation agent, developed in KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology in collaboration with ReaFlot Sp. z o.o., were presented in the paper. Presented results of flotation of coal from two coal mines and analysis of usefulness of RFK-X flotation agent enabled to conclude that its use allows to obtain coal products of required quality.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Badania opinii respondentów na temat uciążliwości środowiskowej górnictwa węgla kamiennego(2007) Sobczyk, WiktoriaThe maintenance of equilibrium in natural environment is a crucial criterion of proper functioning of industrial objects. W wyniku analiz stwierdzono, że przeważająca część pokładu powstała w środowisku Wet Forest Swamp (analiza facjalna Diessela) lub Swamp (analiza facjalna Caldera).Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Korelacja zawartości rtęci i siarki całkowitej dla niektórych surowych węgli kamiennych wydobywanych w Polsce(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Wierzchowski, Krzysztof; Pyka, IreneuszThe paper discusses the correlations between the mercury content and the total sulfur content for hard coal exploited in 5 Polish collieries. It has been revealed, that such correlation doesn't exist considering whole data population (for 5 collieries). The limitation of analyzed input data to the single colliery data set has enabled, for some coals originated from the single colliery, to reveal strong statistical correlation between the mercury content and the total sulfur content in coal. For these examples regression analyses can be used for the prediction of the mercury content in given coal basing on the known information on the total sulfur content in coal.Item type:Book, Access status: Open Access , Megaspory z pokładu Izabela (warstwy łaziskie) w Trzebini(s.n., 1930) Zerndt, JanItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Modelling uncertainty in an advisory system for mining works planning in hard coal mines(2012) Brzychczy, EdytaW artykule przedstawiono rozważania na temat opisu niepewności w bazie wiedzy systemu doradczego projektowanego dla potrzeb planowania robót przygotowawczych i eksploatacyjnych w kopalniach węgla kamiennego. Taking natural gas into account, the amount of reserves will be appropriate in order to fulfill nearly 1/3 of the needs within a similarly long period. However, the condition is that some new gas fields ought to be discovered (which is still quite possible to happen). Nevertheless, the proven oil reserves are small, whereas the likelihood of discovering some new deposits is rather low. Currently (2006), the annual crude oil production extraded from drillings located in both mainland and the Baltic Sea oscillates around 0.70 Mton, whereas the oil consumption does not exceed 20 Mton. According to the data collected in 2006, the percentage of Polish crude oil share equaled 3.9. Fulfilling the future needs for oil and gas, as being carried out at present, will require imports of these media. Oil and natural gas in particular are used in Europe as a means of political pressure mainly from the Russia´s side. Thus, it is considered to be rather difficult, or even impossible for Poland to resolve the hydrocarbon fuel supply in an autonomous way. The problem, however, can be solved effectively within the framework of the European Union.Item type:Book, Access status: Open Access , O nowych urządzeniach podziemnego wywozu w gwareckich kopalniach węgla czarnego w Jaworznie : odczyt Hugona Kowarzyka, inspektora gwareckich kopalń węgla w Jaworznie, wygłoszony w d. 29 kwietnia 1899 r. na zebraniu Towarzystwa Górniczego w Krakowie(Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Górniczego : skład główny w Księgarni Spółki Wydawniczej Polskiej, 1900) Kowarzyk, Hugo WendelinItem type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Ocena skuteczności systemu hydrotechnicznej ochrony Górnej Wisły przed zasoleniem(Data obrony: 2011-07-26) Bibrzycka, Weronika
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe objective of this thesis was presenting the changes in the salinity level of the Upper Vistula River before and after the implementation of the hydrotechnical protection system and reviewing the factors which may be affecting its effectiveness. The study of Cl- and SO42- levels was based on ion chromatography. After the systems implementation a decrease of salinity levels has been noted in every examined watercourse receiving the wastewaters disposed from the mine. In the monitoring point in Gostynia river a drop in salinity levels from 11,24g/dm3 to 8,58g/dm3 was observed. In the Vistula River at the Bieruń Nowy point the levels dropped from 3,93g/dm3 to 2,47g/dm3. In the monitoring point in Potok Goławiecki the levels dropped from 26,4g/dm3 to 15,35g/dm3 and in the Vistula River at Pustynia monitoring point from 2,83 g/dm3 to 0,95g/dm3. For retaining the normative levels of Cl- and SO42- there’s a need to relocate the control point Pustynia. Comparing the systems in the Odra and Vistula Rivers implies that the possibility of choosing the optimal versions of coal water dosages will come up no sooner then after the takeover of the retention-dosage functions by the excavations belonging to the inactive “Piast” Ruch II mine.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Piryt w pokładzie węgla kamiennego 116/2 w ZGE „Janina”, GZW(Data obrony: 2014-09-18) Wróbel, Aleksandra
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe objective of the thesis was to conduct a study of pyrite in the hard coal samples from the deck 116/2 of ZGE „Janina” located in the eastern part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin. The thesis covered a macro-petrography study of the profile which was created by combining 41 samples. Samples containing pyrite were distinguished and further analysed qualitatively. Mainly diffuse and massive veins and small layers forming discrete nodules and lens of various sizes dominated among the forms of pyrite. The samples were further analysed using an optical microscope. During the microscopic examination 3 groups of pyrite forms were isolated: veins, framboidal pyrite and various other forms. In each of the groups the size of pyrite and macerals around which it was located was determined. Based on the studies, the influence of pyrite forms on the desulphurization of coal, which is possible especially during the crushing and gravity enrichment, was specified.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Problemy z rtęcią zawartą w węglu kamiennym(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Pyka, Ireneusz; Wierzchowski, KrzysztofThe paper concerns the issues associated with the mercury emissions to the environment during hard coal utilization processes. The basic reason for undertaking the topic of mercury in coal and for writing the paper was the disproportion between the statistical data on the amounts of utilized coal and the mercury emissions in the USA and Poland. The authors point out the divergence between published statistical data on mercury emissions in Poland. The divergence, possibly, results from the lack of reliable data concerning the mercury content in utilized coal. The literature review shows, that the mean mercury content in hard coals, exploited in Poland, can be assessed from 70 to 350 ppb. Such data divergences on the mercury content in Polish hard coals can not constitute the basis for reliable assessments of the quantity of mercury emitted to the air due to coal utilization. Additional difficulties have been arising from the lack of knowledge on the mercury distribution in raw coal and from only partial steam coal cleaning in Poland. There is also the lack of detailed knowledge concerning the behavior of mercury during the clearing of Polish hard coals. Additionally, the impacts of mercury bearing mining, coal preparation and power industry wastes, are poorly recognized.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Procesy restrukturyzacyjne w polskim górnictwie węgla kamiennego w aspekcie zrealizowanych przemian i zmiany bazy zasobowej(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Paszcza, HenrykThe article presents selected issues of hard coal sector restructuring process in the last twenty years, particularly the processes of organizational changes, activities aimed at excessive production capacity and overfull employment reduction.
