    This PgD dissertation presents Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as a management tool which translates a strategy into strategic objectives in specified areas of a company's activity. It includes various definitions and types of the enterprise's strategy, the idea of BSC enabling looking at every aspect of activities and a Balanced Scorecard structure. This thesis describes a survey carried out among a selected group of managers in the mining company and statistical analyses. As a result, the Author had built individual mining company's Balanced Scorecards. There is also a proposal of a coal mine's BSC submitted in this doctoral dissertation.
