Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , A brief review of recent developments in the integration of deep learning with GIS(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2022) Mohan, Shyama; Giridhar, M.V.S.S.The interaction of Deep Learning (DL) methods with Geographical Information System (GIS) provides the opportunity to obtain new insights into environmental processes through the spatial, temporal and spectral resolutions as well as data integration. The two technologies may be connected to form a dynamic system that is incredibly well adapted to the evaluation of environmental conditions through the interrelationships of texture, size, pattern, and process. This perspective has acquired popularity in multiple disciplines. GIS is significantly dependant on processors, particularly for 3D calculations, map rendering, and route calculation whereas DL can process huge amounts of data. DL has received a lot of attention recently as a technology with a plethora of promising results. Furthermore, the growing use of DL methods in a variety of disciplines, including GIS, is evident. This study tries to provide a brief overview of the use of DL methods in GIS. This paper introduces the essential DL concepts relevant to GIS, the majority of which have been published in recent years. This research explores remote sensing applications and technologies in areas such as mapping, hydrological modelling, disaster management, and transportation route planning. Finally, conclusions on contemporary framework methodologies and suggestions for further studies are provided.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analiza krakowskiego rynku nieruchomości na tle wybranych krajów Unii Europejskiej(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2005) Jasińska, Elżbieta ; Preweda, Edward ; Ruchel, JanIn the paper the situation of the Polish market of real estates was presented and compared with other countries of the European Union. Sociological study(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Drzazga-Lech, Maja; Świątkiewicz-Mośny, MariaMore and more high functioning pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are finishing school, graduating and entering higher education, but in Poland the exact number of these students is still unknown. For academics, especially outside the field of pedagogy and psychology, it is a major challenge to work with students with such dysfunctions. This can activate the social labelling process and negative stigmatisation on the part of people who do not have the knowledge and ability to interact with people with autistic traits. This, in turn, can contribute to perpetuating the stigmatic identity of non‑neurotypical students. This article is exploratory. Its purpose is to present the complexity of the situation of students withASD within the exceptional environment of a university. The inspiration was a controversial article published in a newspaper which evoked a media debate on this issue and activated the process of objectification of social representations of non‑neurotypical adults, especially those with autistic traits. This article focuses on media discourse caused by the controversial article: articles, letters, and responses published in newspapers and newspaper forums, it also comments on legal regulations and assistance programmes.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Comparison of multi-frontal and alternating direction parallel hybrid memory iGRM direct solver for non-stationary simulations(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2020) Woźniak, Maciej; Bukowska, AnnaThree-dimensional isogeometric analysis (IGA-FEM) is a modern method for simulation. The idea is to utilize B-splines or NURBS basis functions for both computational domain descriptions and engineering computations. Refined isogeometric analysis (rIGA) employs a mixture of patches of elements with B-spline basis functions and $C^0$ separators between them. This enables a reduction in the computational cost of direct solvers. Both IGA and rIGA come with challenging sparse matrix structures that are expensive to generate. In this paper, we show a hybrid parallelization method using hybrid-memory parallel machines. The two-level parallelization includes the partitioning of the computational mesh into sub-domains on the first level (MPI) and loop parallelization on the second level (OpenMP). We show that the hybrid parallelization of the integration reduces the contribution of this phase significantly. We compare the multi-frontal solver and alternating direction solver, including the integration and the factorization phases.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Consumer tricks and strategies among Polish migrants in Belfast, Northern Ireland(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2020) Kempny, MartaThis paper examines practices and strategies of consumption among Polish migrants in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Bridging theoretical perspectives on postmodernism, transnationalism and consumer society, the author discusses extent to which consumerism among Polish migrants can be seen as their way of integration with the local community in Northern Ireland. Focusing on conspicuous and inconspicuous consumption, this article explores the reasons why migrants take on the local consumption practices. Furthermore it examines migrants' attempts to increase their social status, and display wealth through their engagement in consumer culture. Next, differences in Polish and local consumption patterns are teased out. Following this, the author links consumerism among Polish migrants to their embeddedness in local, transnational and global spheres. This research adopts 30 in-depth interviews.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Kierunki aktywności mniejszości narodowych w warunkach demokracji na przykładzie mniejszości ukraińskiej w województwie podlaskim(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2014) Nikitorowicz, AndrzejThe purpose of the article is to describe, based on own empirical examinations, the activities and actions of a minority group which under the conditions of a democracy is trying to revitalize and revive their own culture and national awareness. Ukrainians in Podlasie Voivodeship are an autochthonous minority group which within the past 20 years has been making attempts at the reconstruction of its identity. Only 25 years ago all Orthodox residents of the province were regarded as representatives of the Belarussian minority, today this image has become much more complicated and the Ukrainian minority in the voivodeship is the only one recording an increasing number of conscious members.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Koncepcja przestrzeni percepcyjnej robota mobilnego(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Jeżewski, Sławomir; Wulkiewicz, AdamModern mobile robots use many different sensors to self-localize in the environment. They collect and process sensory information on different levels of their's operating systems in different manner. The most important point where all positional sensory information is integrated are localization and mapping algorithms. Authors presents data structure for and the algorithmic structures which enables fast integration of measurements from various sensors and fast data access. Presented structure has local access capability which is important in the multiprocessing environment. Romowie zielonoświątkowcy w Szaflarach(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2014) Nowicka-Rusek, EwaThe article presents specific ways of transgression of the social barriers which divide Roma communities and the non-Roma majority society. This transgression is connected with the concept of cultural conversion based on religious conversion to the evangelical faith of Pentecostalism. Acceptance of the rules of thought in Pentecostalism has enabled a Roma/Gypsy local community to reject the traditional Roma cultural forms of life which close the way of integration. I analyse one Roma/Gypsy local community, the Zadział settlement in Szaflary village, almost totally converted into Pentecostalism. I trace transformations in the lifestyle of Roma converts, promising integration through acceptance on the part of the majority society. This cultural change is possible due to rejection of several traits crucial for Roma culture, here called »core traits«. I also indicate elements of the culture of neighbouring non-Roma local inhabitants which work against the process. One of them is the negative attitude of the Roman Catholic Church, dominating in Poland generally and in Carpathian villages particularly, towards evangelical denominations.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Oprogramowanie i integracja stanowiska do badania sygnałów akustycznych stanów przedawaryjnych maszyn elektrycznych(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Głowacz, Adam; Dobrowolski, GrzegorzThe purpose of the work is to present software and integration of work station for investigation of acoustic signals of imminent failure conditions in electrical machines. In the third, we introduce five theoretical tools derived from the contemporary sociology of aesthetics. In the fourth, we use these tools to interpret MISA’s worldview and societal reactions to it.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Together or separated? The segregative and integrative model of cultural accessibility for persons with disabilities(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2020) Dubiel, Monika NataliaCulture takes an increasingly important position in the debate about the accessibility of public space for persons with disabilities. Many questions about how to include them in cultural life have emerged. The subject of the present article is a theoretical reflection on actions taken in this area by cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations. Basing on a comparative analysis of two events of such kind, and using the achievements of special pedagogy, I present two models of cultural accessibility for persons with disabilities: the separative and integrative model. I ponder on their advantages and disadvantages. I conclude by claiming that both can be useful in the process of making culture accessible for persons with disabilities, providing that the beneficiaries will be allowed to choose what kind of events they will attend. These considerations accord with the recently burgeoning field of accessibility studies, while Disability Studies serves as a broad theoretical frame.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Tradition in dialogue - celebration patterns among Polish migrants in Iceland(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Wojtyńska, AnnaMigration, living in another country exposes one to culture contact and initiates the integration process. The integration of migrants is usually discussed using an acculturation model in the form proposed for example by John Berry. Instead, in this article, I take the concept of intercultural communication as it better renders integration as a dynamic practice of reconstructing and redefining culture forms in the culturally diverse environment, where different lifestyles and values coexist. Importantly, as I try to show, taking the example of Polish migrants in Iceland, changing patterns of celebrations are not only influenced by the receiving culture but also by global images.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Us among them - a study of the contemporary Polish emigration to Norway(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2013) Sokół-Rudowska, MonikaA significant increase in migration from Poland has been observed since Poland joined the European Union in 2004. It has mainly been labour migration to richer countries of Western Europe. The rate of migration has exceeded the expectations of both politicians and experts. Statistics now show that about 2 million citizens have left Poland since that moment (Główny Urząd Statystyczny 2011). One of the top countries which Poles choose as a target for migration is Norway. Not only do the majority of Polish immigrants lack basic skills in Norwegian, but they also lack basic skills in English. The communication problems with people who don't belong to us. those who use the same language, is one of the most important factors that contributes to the creation of closed Polish ethnic enclaves. These communities try to rebuild their own identity in new countries based on the traditions and cultural codes brought from Poland, and us-them as opposite values. In this case us designates those members of a Polish minority in Norway, who follow norms accepted by the group, while Norwegians here represent them. A confrontation with the antagonists certifies one's own ideas and values. It is worth noticing that not all Polish migrants live within their ethnic groups. Poland is a rather culturally homogeneous country. This is a factor which facilitates finding one's own ethnic group in a foreign land and thereafter establishing one's place in it. Living abroad, however, changes one's identity due to foreign influence. The identity of them changes similarly, depending on the situation. After a preliminary categorization of all the Poles as us, gradual divisions and categorizations take place within the Polish immigrant community. A significant number of Poles, usually less educated, often deliberately choose to isolate themselves from the culture of the host country. They use it as a method of retaining their own culture. Families and friends are brought from Poland in order to reproduce the lost local homeland.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Use of integrated GPS and INS systems in aerial photogrammetry(2011) Poręba, MartynaA synthetic overview of the present state of knowledge regarding the use of GPS and INS systems in aerial photogrammetry is presented. Although, the inertial navigation can calculate the position of the aircraft without any help from outside world, a large number of error are introduced. Hence a GPS is used to aid the INS, using a Kalman filter which helps in estimating the errors in the INS and thus updating position to improved accuracy. The deficiencies inherent in both systems as well as the reasons for their integration are considered. Since the use of a GPS system during flight still requires the creation of a net of ground control points and the planning of blocks with sufficient overlap between images, GPS/INS system integration has become a topic of keen interest. For this purpose, the basics of GPS/INS integration and the advantages and disadvantages of this solution are explained. The summary presents conclusions about directions for further development of integrated systems and a brief discussion of the current state of studies on direct georeferencing published in international scientific literature.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Współczesne zagadnienia rozwoju elektroenergetyki(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Barczentewicz, Szymon; Benesz, Mariusz; Bień, Andrzej; Danioł, Mateusz; Duda, Krzysztof; Florkowski, Marek; Kmak, Jarosław; Korbiel, Tomasz; Marszałek, Zbigniew; Moskwa, Szczepan; Nabielec, Jerzy; Nowak, Wiesław; Sroka, Ryszard; Tarko, Rafał; Wetula, Andrzej; Zydroń, PawełThe paper presents selected areas of scientific activity of the Electrical Power Engineering Research Team, which relate to the development of the electrical power in the aspect of the energy transition processes taking place and the resulting development of distributed generation.
