Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaRelict rock glaciers in the High Tatra Mountains have been active during the Lateglacial of the last glaciation, when climatic conditions were suitable to development of permafrost. On base of detailed geomorphological mapping and sedimentological analysis eight relict rock glaciers in the catchment of Roztoka Valley are recognized and described. It was distinguished two types of rock glaciers: talus and moraine derived. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaIn valley system of Roztoka and Pięć Stawów Polskich Valleys a wide range of erosional and accumulation landforms is preserved, many times described in the literature. These landforms have been formed during the Last Glacial Maximum and Lateglacial periods. Based on geomorphological mapping and analysis of remote sensing data (including a new digital model – LiDAR), the maximum extent of glacial influence on valley slopes is presented and confluence origin of Siklawa threshold is evidenced. For the first time, results of detailed measurements of glacial striations is presented, which indicate direction of glacier movement in the study area. Morphostratigraphic analysis of moraines and relict rock glaciers indicates two main stages of these landforms development, which, on basis of previous results of lake sediments analysis, could be linked with the Oldest and Younger Dryas phases.
