Wydział Elektrotechniki, Automatyki, Informatyki i ElektronikiThis thesis presents the use of discrete wavelet transform to non-uniform segmentation and parameterization of Polish speech signal, for recognition systems. Non-uniform segmentation is used for extraction of acoustically uniform sub-word units from speech. Both proposed segmentation methods base on discrete wavelet spectral analysis. First one is used for extraction of spectral rate-of-change function which is then used for segment borders' detection. The second of the algorithms is based on extraction of the event-detection function from the discrete wavelet spectrum of the speech signal. Those events indicate segment borders. Signal parameterization is performed with the use of discrete wavelet decomposition. Best decomposition base (tree) is selected with a new Mean Best Basis algorithm and a new-designed cost function, applied for measuring the concentration of the wavelet-cosine spectrum. Efficacy of proposed methods was evaluated with the use of phone-recognition system and Polish speech corpus -Corpora'97. Segment insertion and deletion rates, and phone recognition rate (PRR) were used as the most important efficacy indicators. Results were obtained with k-NN and HMM classifiers.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Parametrization of spline functions to describe the shape of shell structures(2013) Lenda, Grzegorz; Mirek, GrzegorzDescription of the shape of shell structure surfaces by means of spline functions is a competitive method of approximation to the approximation with a surface of the second degree. They allow us to present local deformations of the structure. However, they demonstrate sensitivity to a variety of factors, among which the most important is related to the shape of the structure, determining the appropriate choice of spline function arguments. Determining of the arguments is carried out in the so-called parametrization process, which is crucial for the accuracy of the obtained approximations. This paper focuses on the application and comparison of several popular parametrization methods for approximating the shape of the surface of shell structures. The main task of the conducted test study was to select the parametrization method bringing the most accurate results for the description of the structures measured with a not too high density of points (every tens of centimeters - meters) for example, using popular reflectorless total stations. For this purpose, two test models were analyzed, with one- and multi-directional variable curvature, from which sets of points distributed alternately were considered, used to construct spline surfaces and to determine the deviations of the surfaces from the test models. The study involved three most common types of parametrization [2-4]: with a fixed distance, with the distance between the points and with its root. Biblioteka GłównaOcena pracownicza, awans zawodowy, a w szczególności parametryzacja jednostki i ewaluacja dyscyplin naukowych to bardzo ważne procesy administracyjne zarówno z perspektywy pracownika naukowego, jak i całej uczelni. W artykule przedstawiona jest rola i zaangażowanie pracowników Biblioteki Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego w wymienione procesy, a także opisany model ścisłej współpracy pomiędzy bibliotekarzami a pracownikami naukowymi. W modelu tym podstawowym źródłem informacji wykorzystywanym do przygotowywania różnego rodzaju analiz jest Baza Wiedzy Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego tworzona przez BUG. W podsumowaniu zaprezentowane są dobre praktyki i plany na przyszłość.
