Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Analiza ryzyka i niepewności geologiczno-górniczego projektu zagospodarowania złoża rud cynku i ołowiu „Laski”(Data obrony: 2013-07-25) Kulig, Marcin
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaZłoże rud cynku i ołowiu „Laski” usytuowane jest w województwie małopolskim, we wschodniej części Wyżyny Śląsko-Krakowskiej. Przeprowadzono również symulację Monte Carlo z wykorzystaniem programu @RISK w celu analizy ryzyka i niepewności zagospodarowania złoża rud cynku i ołowiu „Laski”. Uzyskane wyniki ukazują ryzyko finansowe, które może być mierzone jako prawdopodobieństwo niepowodzenia przedsięwzięcia inwestycyjnego.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Flash flood risk and climate analysis in the extreme south of Algeria (the case of In-Guezzam City)(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2022) Zegait, Rachid; Şen, Zekâi; Pulido-Bosch, Antonio; Madi, Housseyn; Hamadeha, BachirNatural risks, particularly flood risk, are a topical subject in Algeria and throughout the world, particularly given the last major catastrophic floods in Sudan (2020) and North Africa. With the development of the climate change phenomenon in the world, risk management is becoming increasingly necessary for all the actors concerned (decision-makers, technicians, and the population) to identify protection issues. In 2018, in the extreme south of Algeria, In-Guezzam City suffered a devastating flood that caused significant damage and loss of human and material resources. More than 100 homes collapsed, and approximately 345 families were displaced. Currently, there is no research work to assess the hydrological situation and the risk of flooding in this region. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to shed light on the risk of flash floods in the extreme south of Algeria with more specific attention to the August 2018 floods as well as the climate trends over the past 30 years using Mann-Kendall test and Sen's Slope Estimator. The chosen approach involves a hydrological study and hydrodynamic modeling using HEC-RAS software. This latter allows for simulating floods using statistical methods and creating several regional flood hazard maps.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Interdisciplinary aspects of tunnel design(2007) Pöttler, Rudolf; Starjakob, Franz; Sysik, PawełWhen taking all aspects (geology, environment, geotechnics, safety, traffic aspects, ventilation, economic aspects, operational aspects) into account tunneling is a very complex design task. It is to be understood that the whole is more than the sum of its parts, and requires an interdisciplinary design process. The paper will deal in the first chapter with the success factors necessary for the interdisciplinary design and layout of high-speed railway tunnels. ILF carries out complex tunnel projects using its in-house capacity. Examples of how different aspects influence each other will be given with the high-speed railway tunnels in Germany and Austria.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , MUD LOGGING - a real time interconnection between geology and drilling(2011) Ştefănescu, Dan-Paul; Vlasín, Ioana; Piteiu, Marcel A.The final stage of geological research, which is in fact the essence of the exploration activity for discovering the new hydrocarbons accumulations, is actually represented by designing the new wells. For sure one of the main condition to achieve the proposed target could be considered the well monitoring. The implementation in Romgaz of the concept known as mud logging wasn't so easy. The beginning is related to the period 1989-1990, when the deepest well from Transylvanian Basin was drilled and the first mud logging unit was rented from the offshore Romanian company. After that successful experiment, few appraisal wells were monitored in this way, followed by more and more wells, so nowadays for each well there is a mud logging unit belonging to different drilling contractors or other services companies. In the last period, Romgaz set up a new department specially designed for mud logging supervising. The great advantage is represented not only by monitoring the drilling parameters (weight on bit, rate of penetration, rotary torque, pump strokes, the mud pit level, etc.) which allows to create a more accurate image of the well just from the drilling stage, but also by gathering a lot of geological data such as lithological description, calcimetry analyses, gas indicators and others, assuring in fact a maximum well security. All these information correlated with the borehole geophysics can identify the possible zones of interest for hydrocarbons accumulations and predict the well testing program and thus the future status of the well. Beside the short description of the main recorded drilling parameters and some aspects regarding the geological assistance, the case study presented in the paper highlights a very good correlation between drilling and geological parameters, open hole logs and the production tests. It's very obvious that diagrams provided by the mud logging services, including specialized devices and a competitive team, represent an accurate data base not only for the current well evaluation, but also for a better approach of the risk analyses in designing the new wells. For this reason, the mud logging service became a real necessity and represents in Romgaz a constant requirement for each new well.

To achieve carbon neutrality, greenhouse emissions from human activities should be at least 85% lower than in 1990. The remaining 15% can be achieved through additional measures such as increasing carbon capture and storage (CCS) and reducing emissions. CCS will facilitate the decarbonization of heavy industry, contribute to the emergence of a clean hydrogen economy, and aid in achieving net-zero emissions. As an emerging technology in the Industry 4.0, Digital Twin (DT) is gaining attention due to the possibilities arising from its application, such as precise process optimization in the design phase, quality control, monitoring, decision-making, and through comprehensive modeling of the physical world as a group of connected digital models. The introduction of digital technologies into the CCS sector has the potential to revolutionize the way $CO_{2}$ capture, transportation, and storage processes are carried out. This article aims to present the fundamental value of different modeling techniques, technologies enabling the creation of DT’s uncertainty quantification methods commonly used in Digital Twins, as well as the application of Digital Twin in CCS technology and the potential benefits it can bring, including increases efficiency and cost minimization. Additionally, the possibilities of using DS’s in improving process monitoring and forecasting were discussed which can contribute to better emission control and increases system effectiveness. Current research and projects utilizing this technology were also presented, including real-time modeling of fluid flow, $CO_{2}$ transport network optimization, and storage process improvement.
