Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analysis of Road Network Structure Using Scale-Free Network Theory in Context of Potential Fire Department Interventions in Urbanized Area(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Kowalczyk, Anna Maria; Garustowicz, AdamRoads are essential to fire departments for saving lives and protecting health. The development of urban structures and the increasing complexity of transport systems necessitate the search for novel solutions and tools for spatial analyses in safety terms. This study aims to determine whether the city’s transport system network exhibits scale-free network characteristics and whether crucial center nodes can be identified for the efficient functioning of the entire system. The study developed two transport system network models: one based on the Topographic Objects Database, and the other on data from devices that record vehicle traffic at selected nodes. Both were found to follow the bell-shaped curve characteristic of random networks, however, the second network model differed significantly from the first model due to the identification of nodes that could potentially act as hubs in an emerging scale-free network. A simulation was conducted to model the impact of cutting off these crucial nodes (centers), with a visualization of the network structure’s behavior. In conclusion, using scale-free network theory to optimize FD operations is reasonable and useful. In this scenario, the transport system network displays scale-free characteristics, thus allowing for the identification of the most crucial functional points of the entire structure.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Application of a measuring and recording system with MEMS technology for a powered roof support(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Trzop, KonradInnovative technologies in hard coal production are indispensable for building a modern business enterprise. The pace of environmental and social changes inspires the need for continuous improvement of the coal mining process. The domain of machinery and equipment is the most important element of the entire production process. Machines and equipment require the constant monitoring of their operating parameters to ensure production continuity and safety. A solution addressing those needs is a measuring system that records the parameters of the powered roof support. The constructed measuring system uses MEMS technologies to measure changes in the transverse and longitudinal inclination of the elements and the height of the powered roof support. The measuring system allows for determining the parameters of the powered roof support's operation in the mining wall. The following paper presents an example of the use of MEMS technology in the measuring system sensors, as well as the stages of real-life research on adapting the powered roof support to the measuring system.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Bezpieczeństwo a efektywność urządzeń wiertniczych i eksploatacyjnych - nowe konstrukcje i ograniczenia(2011) Artymiuk, Jan; Bednarz, StanisławResearches in safety of drilling operations are presently performed. During piezometric measurements, various types of factors can cause disturbances in these measurements that take the form of systematic, accidental, or obvious mistakes. Before measurements from open or closed piezometers are analyzed, outliers due to coarse errors should be detected and rejected. Such observations may significantly influence the result of the analysis and cause erroneous assessment and interpretation of the phenomenon studied. To do this, statistical tests must be applied so that the doubtful measurement can be accepted or rejected at the assumed significance level. This paper uses five statistical tests for identifying and rejecting outliers: the Q-Dixon test, the Grubbs test, as well as the Hampel test, the Iglewicz and Hoaglin test, and the Rosner test. The aim of this article is to try to identify the most suitable test for periodic piezometric measurements. The scope of the study includes the analysis of piezometric measurements for the Czaniec Dam for the multi-year period 2017-2020.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Digitization of Polish mining industry by reducing costs and improving safety and quality of finished product(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Wojtas, Piotr; Kozłowski, Artur; Wojtas, Marek DanielThis paper presents the current level of digitization of the Polish mining industry on examples of copper and hard coal mines. A proposal to digitize the individual business processes in mining production was presented. These components define the specifics of the functioning of the mining process. New methods of collecting and processing data based on Big Data technology were proposed.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Innovative mining machinery solutions developed at Department of Mining, Dressing, and Transport Machines, AGH University of Science and Technology(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Krauze, Krzysztof; Kotwica, KrzysztofThe exploitation of mineral resources with underground mining methods is becoming more and more difficult due to the mining and geological conditions in which these resources are present. This is related to the depth of retention and thickness of the exploited deposits (seams), more cohesive and durable rocks, and climatic conditions. The excavation of access and preparatory roadways as well as exploitation under such conditions require specially designed and manufactured machines. In recent years in the Department of Mining, Dressing, and Transport Machine at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, a number of innovative solutions of machines and devices have been developed that can be used to work under difficult mining and geological conditions. This article presents selected solutions of these machines and devices - a mining head for a roadheader with asymmetrical disc tools with a complex motion trajectory, a temporary, mechanized, and walking roadway support, a unique longwall complex with a single-cutting head shearer used for thin coal seam exploitation, and an innovative mining and hauling system for mechanical shaft drilling using a shaft shearer.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Interdisciplinary aspects of tunnel design(2007) Pöttler, Rudolf; Starjakob, Franz; Sysik, PawełWhen taking all aspects (geology, environment, geotechnics, safety, traffic aspects, ventilation, economic aspects, operational aspects) into account tunneling is a very complex design task. It is to be understood that the whole is more than the sum of its parts, and requires an interdisciplinary design process. The paper will deal in the first chapter with the success factors necessary for the interdisciplinary design and layout of high-speed railway tunnels. ILF carries out complex tunnel projects using its in-house capacity. Examples of how different aspects influence each other will be given with the high-speed railway tunnels in Germany and Austria.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , ISMOP Project (IT System of Levee Monitoring) as an example of integrated monitoring of levee(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Stanisz, Jacek; Korzec, Klaudia; Borecka, AleksandraThe technical condition of levees is decides on the safety of property and persons residing in the protected areas. The key to solving that problem and providing barrier breaking refueling infrastructure solution for natural gas vehicles (NGV) is home fast refueling units. It operates using natural gas (methane), which is being provided through gas pipelines at client’s home, and electricity connection point. It enables an environmentally friendly NGV’s home refueling just in minutes. The underlying technology is one stage hydraulic compressor (instead of multistage mechanical compressor technology) which provides the possibility to compress low pressure gas from residential gas grid to 200 bar for its further usage as a fuel for NGVs. More than efficiency and convenience, the direct hydraulic compressor technology provides compelling cost and lifetime advantages as well as superior convenience over other solutions. Aims of this article is to compare technical, technological and safety aspects of home refueling units and estimate a perspectives of natural gas vehicles as an alternative for regular vehicles.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Technological aspects of mining chain production development(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Kandzia, Richard; Szot, MariuszThis paper presents a brief historical overview of the development and types of mining chains currently in production, as well as their contribution to the global market. Additionally, in order to stabilize the speed (especially during revision works in the shaft), the system of setting speed levels of the hoisting machine has been modified. Speed adjustment is realized by a follow-up speed control system built on the basis of a digitally controlled MENTOR reverse converter.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Zagrożenia wodne w kopalniach węgla kamiennego w Górnośląskim Zagłębiu Węglowym w dobie restrukturyzacji górnictwa(2007) Bukowski, PrzemysławThe progressive process of mines abandoning in the USCB from early 90's caused the formation in mine workings of water reservoirs with a capacity of each of millions m3 of retentioned water. Despite the observed decrease of incidents that result from the water hazard during last decade, the water reservoirs that come into existence in mine workings of abandoned mines endanger and will cause even greater hazard for conducted and planned mine workings. Their influence in conditions of various properties of geological environment entail the necessity of changes in an attitude to the assessment of the scale of water hazard and their prognoses, what was presented in general in the article.
