Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe purpose of doctoral thesis was: determination ot geochemical characteristics, concentration and forms of occurrence of Pb, Cd, As. and Tl in exploited Zn-Pb ores and in stored away industry in Silesian District. The research were conducted with wide employment of instrumental method of analysis of chemical composition and mineral phases (light reflected microscope, microprobe, SEM, nuclear spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy, XRD, camera Gandolfi, TEM, ICP-MS, AAS). Geochemical research of Silesian ore minerals showed, that some of them include high concentrations of trace elements. These are Pb, Cd, As, and Tl. Main form controlling migration and precipitation of Pb, As and Tl is a new group of mineral revealed with intermediated and mixed sulfur valences (oxysulphides) was found. These minerals were omitted in mineralogical descriptions due to unsuitable technique of preparation of confection with use of water so far. Oxysulphides, due to their features, will be diluted easily in the mine waters, as well as in flotation medium, causing a very fast increase of pollutions.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Wstępne badania geochemii talu i arsenu w rudach Zn-Pb Górnego Śląska(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Kucha, Henryk; Rajchel, BernadetaUpper Silesian Zn-Pb deposits contain toxic elements, such as: thallium and arsenic. Basing on data from literature (Harańczyk 1965), factor analysis was performed for: Ag, As, Cd, Fe, Mn, Pb, S, Tl, Zn. This analysis showed that ores have to be present new minerals, which contain arsenic and thallium. Following detailed mineralogical research defined a new oxysulphide mineral - $(Fe_{1.8}Pb_{0.1}Zn_{0.1})_{2}SlO_{5}$.
