Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Pomiędzy esencjalizmem a konstruktywizmem. Płeć (kulturowa) w refleksji teoretycznej socjologii - przegląd koncepcji(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Leszczyńska, Katarzyna; Dziuban, AgataIn this paper the authors take up the attempt to identify the main theoretical tracks of gender categories, which were initially present in the classical sociology, and then in the singled out specialized contemporary sociological subdisciplines. In the paper the transformations within the sociological conceptualization of gender arc presented as the peculiar de-essentialisation. The expression of dc-csscntialising of gender can be noticed in the gradual departing from its biological and naturalistic understanding, which is grounded in the classical reflection of sociology, towards the defining gender in the social and cultural categories (gender roles, power relations, interactions) and finally towards general dcconstmction of the all essential concepts of sexual and gender identities.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Socjologia jednostek i teoria krytyczna - konferencja lizbońska o aktualnych debatach w socjologii teoretycznej(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Mucha, JanuszThis is an exercise in the fi eld of a sociology of sociology. It draws upon the debate on »sociological theory we need« at the beginning of the 21st century, which was held at the Lisbon 2009 Conference of the European Sociological Association (semi-plenary session). The invited speakers presented two cases of the »theory we need«: »sociology of individuals« and »critical theory«. The author analyses theoretical discussions held at recent big (European and »global«) sociological congresses and comes to the conclusion that the Lisbon 2009 diagnosis of what is really important in sociological theorizing was wrong. Similarly, in Polish textbooks and readers in the fi eld of sociological theory, these two subdisciplines do not seem to be very signifi cant. The detailed discussion of the proposed in Lisbon »sociology of individuals« and »critical theory« follows. In concluding chapter of the article, the author analysis what and why is considered in recent Poland, at the beginning of the 21st century, a »sociology of individuals« and »critical sociology« of the post-communist transformation.
