Człowiek - kobieta - zakonnica? Sposoby konstruowania kobiecości przez siostry zakonne

The aim of the article is to present how nuns define the concept of femininity. Analyses base on biographical interviews conducted among inhabitants of one of Polish monasteries. To define their gender identity, nuns do not create an alternative model of femininity. Instead, they use the categories of traditional femininity which they adapt to the monastic reality using the idea of sacrifice. Respondents view on femininity is consistent with the role of women proposed by The Roman Catholic Church.

Siostrzyczki czyli siostry. Figura zakonnicy w polskim serialu telewizyjnym

In the presented article the author analyses one of the lately produced Polish movie series, using the semiotic understanding of the text of culture as every significant complete body. There are used the notions of sign and code as well as the convention of representing and creating of reality in various texts: literary or audio-visual. Using this theoretical supply, that permits »to read« the different products of culture as the texts: the internet pages, posters, performances, the literary text, billboards, computer games, paintings or television production the presented text takes as the object of analysis the way the nun figure is (re)constructed in the Sister’s series produced by Polish Television. The author recognizes the television series as one of modern symptoms of the »mythical speech«, using for the analysis the anthropological methodological and theoretical apparatus.
