Item type:Thesis, Access status: Open Access , Measurement of the inclusive production of neutral meson K and neutral barion Lambda in proton-proton diffraction collisions at center-of-mass energy of 510 GeV in the STAR experiment at RHIC(Data obrony: 2024-07-09) Wątroba, Adam
Wydział Fizyki i Informatyki StosowanejDuring proton-proton collisions, in small part of events, both protons survive and are scattered at very small angles, producing particles in the central rapidity region. This type of reaction (central diffraction) takes place by the exchange of two so called Pomerons, which in lowest order of QCD can be modelled as pairs of gluons. In the aforementioned process, central state with quantum numbers of a vacuum is produced, and the particles produced (or the products of their decays) can be measured. In this thesis my main focus is $K^0$ and $\Lambda^0$ measurement as a result of $p + p \to p + p + K^0(\Lambda^0) + X$ reaction at $\sqrt{s}=510$ GeV. Such process can be measured by STAR experiment at RHIC. Roman Pots detectors will be used to measure scattered protons, and central state detector will be used to measure the remaining produced particles. The aim of this analysis is to obtain diffractive yields with respect to various kinematic variables, which can further be used to calculate cross sections for this reactionItem type:Thesis, Access status: Open Access , Gluon scattering amplitudes within Wilson line-based Lagrangians(Data obrony: 2024-01-30) Kulig, Mateusz

Wydział Fizyki i Informatyki StosowanejIn the STAR experiment at the RHIC accelerator, collisions of proton and heavy-ion beams of different energies are studied in different configurations. In a significant fraction of the proton-proton collisions, the primary protons remain intact and are scattered at very small angles. These types of collisions take place mostly by exchanging the so-called Pomerons. As a result of such collisions, different final states can be produced in the central range of pseudorapidity. In this thesis we investigate the possibility of measuring $K^0$ mesons and $\Lambda^0$ baryons in the inclusive process of central production, $p + p \to p + p + K^0(\Lambda^0) + X$, in collisions recorded in the STAR experiment at the centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 510$~GeV. For the reconstruction of diffractively scattered protons, the Roman Pot detectors are used, while the decay products of $K^0$ or $\Lambda^0$ are registered in the central detector.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Open Access , Determination of Monte Carlo predictions for the diffractive production of dijets using the Rivet packageMalinowska, Patrycja Ada
Wydział Fizyki i Informatyki StosowanejAt the LHC collider, beams of protons and/or heavy ions collide head-on at different centre-of-mass energies. In a significant part of the proton-proton collisions, one or both of the original beam protons remain intact and are scattered at very small polar angles. In such diffractive processes, inter alia, pairs of jets can be produced. The aim of this thesis was to get acquainted with the Monte Carlo simulation of diffractive dijet production in the proton-proton collisions at the LHC energies. The selection criteria used for dijets selection closely follow those used in the analyses of the ATLAS data. Obtained Monte Carlo predictions are compared with a published ATALS measurement at $\sqrt s$ = 7 TeV performed using the rapidity gap method for tagging single diffractive events. In addition predictions for ongoing measurement at $\sqrt s$ = 13 TeV of dijet production in single diffractive events based on the tagged intact proton method have been obtained.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Anomaly and outlier detection of the VELO detector calibration data using methods of unsupervised machine learning(Data obrony: 2021-02-02) Radoń, Patryk
