Natural gas consumption by cookers in multi-family houses
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Jasiewicz, Marzena; Stec, Maciej; Słobodzian-Ksenicz, Oryna; Nadolna, Marzena
This article presents the results of research on the natural gas consumption of cookers in two multi-family houses located in a large housing estate in a city with a population of 100,000 people. Monthly, daily, and hourly variations in natural gas consumption were analyzed. The actual maximum consumption was determined and compared with the calculated demand for natural gas.

Research development - creativity and innovation's placein engineering education
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Duşe, Dan Maniu; Duşe, Carmen
Is creativity a given by nature? Is this a legitimate question of all people that realize the value of creativity and hope to find more of it in each human being as often as possible? By learning more and more about creativity, we can better discover its direct connection to a certain domain. It is considered to be the aptitudes, knowledge, and personality characteristics that sustain and lead to creative thinking - to the creative behavior needed to have a creative a specific background to the developing domain. Different domains need to have different personality abilities, knowledge, aptitudes, and characteristics. The tests applied to the students belonging to engineering study programs increase the conviction that creativity is lacking in their knowledge abilities. The engineering profession is realized by means of a solution projection that has appeared, and creativity is the instrument that is used by engineers in solving their problems. The tests results have shown modest creative abilities that are valid for the students of both the universities of Romania as well as in Poland. More than that, although they belong to a promising generation (»the Y generation«), the modest dimension of their creativity is exclusively due to the modest system of education in promoting creativity. Solutions are at the hand of academic management: by means of bettering of the engineering curricula, of bettering the didactic behavior of the academic staff, and by means of sustaining the creativity concept in an engineering education.

Microstructure of porous space in cement sheath used for sealing oil wells
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Kremieniewski, Marcin; Rzepka, Marcin; Stryczek, Stanisław; Wiśniowski, Rafał
The effect of cement slurry modification on the microstructure of the annular space in a wellbore is presented in this paper. An admixture of macromolecular copolymer GS was used, which is usually applied in cement slurry technology to counteract gas migration by the binding cement slurry. The copolymer addition also results in sealing up the cement matrix at the stage of the binding and formation of hardened cement slurry. The modification of a slurry composition with this admixture results in the fact that the cement matrix has low porosity and is strongly compact. Consequently, a significantly higher number of micropores with small diameters are formed than those with larger micropores in the analyzed hardened cement slurry sample. An admixture of a macromolecular copolymer (7 wt.% of the cement) was added and 10% of the latex was removed from the recipe to show the influence of the modified recipe on the microstructure of the cement sheath. Thanks to this modification, the microcement participation could be reduced by 50% with the simultaneously improved quality of the most important technological parameters of fresh and hardened cement slurry. The basic and modified recipes were analyzed. The following parameters of the slurry were determined: rheology, filtration, water settlement, and time of densification. The influence of the modified slurry on the parameters describing the microstructure of the hardened slurry was analyzed for the hardened slurry (i.e., porosimetric porosity and microtomographic porosity). The microstructure of a sample fracture was also investigated. The analyses were conducted for recipes of slurries to be used for sealing wells at a temperature of 40°C and pressure of 10 MPa.
