Epistemologia w Aṣṭasāhasrikāprajñāpāramitā i w filozofii Nagardżuny
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Bogacz, Szymon
Nāgārjuna’s Middle Way (<i>madhyamaka</i>) doctrine met with the objection that it is a mere verbal attack (<i>vitaṇḍā</i>) against other philosophical positions. As one of the Madhyamaka critics pointed out: because Nāgārjuna does not hold own position, he is not able to justify his criticism of the essence (<i>svabhāva</i>). The article is an answer to the question whether, in the context of Indian philosophy, it is possible to know things devoid of essences. Theory of knowledge of this kind, i.e. the concept of omniscience (<i>sarvajña</i>) was presented in <i>Aṣṭasāhasrikāprajñāpāramitā</i> sutra. Associations between Nāgārjuna’s texts and the sutra suggest that omniscience could be a substrate for epistemological position of the Middle Way.

The war is not over until it is over. Contemporary films as a means of national identity construction and memory in Poland
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Camacho, Angelica
Films are an important source of symbolism. They help people construct a national identity and memory of the past. Contemporary film productions in Central and Eastern Europe which focus on themes such as World Wars I and II and post-communism, rewrite and redefine the national identity of citizens. It is important to analyze and discuss these films as a way to gaining a richer understanding of the discourses of national identity. In the Polish film <i>Rose</i> (<i>Róża</i>) by Wojciech Smarzowski, the main female character is the recipient of an imposed identity before and after World War II. On the other hand, in the Polish film <i>In Darkness</i> director Agnieszka Holland tells the story of a man who helps Jews hide in the sewer system. Holland and Smarzowski portray Poles as individuals willing to risk their lives for Jewish people: this is also national identity construction.

Rakija-nation’s wine culture exploration of wine presence and role in Serbian culture
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Rybak, Mariusz
The article discusses the presence of wine in Serbian culture as being rooted in the nation’s history, the symbolical meaning the beverage has acquired, and the role it has played in the Serbian identity over centuries. The purpose is to show that wine can function as a marker of cultural boundaries and thus an instrument in the process of identification, as it was in the case for Christian Serbs under the Ottoman Empire. Wine remains deeply rooted in the culture even once it has apparently lost this function. Several juxtapositions with the role of rakija, another culturally meaningful beverage in Serbia, are offered. Given the historical perspective, the paper draws in the argumentation upon literature, both scientific and belles-lettres, supported by observation methods for current developments.

(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Roszko-Wójtowicz, Elżbieta
Small and medium-sized sector is a driving factor of social and economic development of countries’ all over the world. At the same time the sector is a great environment for establishment and functioning of family businesses. Dissimilarity of family firms in comparison to non-family firms is proven by the specific structure of the aforementioned above family firms. These are objects where the three circles of family, business and ownership interpenetrate and interrelate. Charisma, the founder potential and support provided by the relatives influence significantly the future of the business. Is the family-dominated ownership a sufficient argument to accept reasoning that family firms perform better on the market that non-family firms. In such a reality the aim of the paper is to assess the development potential of family and non-family firms and to draw possible similarities or dissimilarities in this field. The author has decided to implement the univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA), which enabled indication of variables that diversify the level of constructed synthetic measure of development. On the bases of conducted analysis it was proven that within the sample, in the field of development potential, on average, a little bit better perform family firms than non-family firms. Moreover, achieved results induce to further research in the aforementioned field.
