Permian to Triassic paleokarst of the Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Mts, central Poland
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2007) Urban, Jan
This paper presents classification of the Permian and Triassic paleokarst forms in the Świętokrzyskie Mts, systematic description of the groups of forms and their fillings as well as conclusions concerning environmental conditions of their development. Four groups were distinguished among paleokarst forms developed before the deposition of the Buntsandstein whereas five ones developed during the Buntsandstein deposition (proceeding diachronically) and/or the Middle Triassic time. The Permian-Triassic paleokarst was conditioned by the Variscan tectonic movements and up-lift as well as subsequent formation of the Danish-Polish Trough. The Permian karst developed in the area of mountainous morphology and were often connected with hydrothermal processes. The Triassic karst formed due to tectonic activity stimulating morphological rejuvenation of the region. Wide and low passages representing one of the Triassic paleokarst group presumably formed in fresh and sea waters mixing zone.
Fasetowane ziarna granatów z pstrego piaskowca monokliny przedsudeckiej okolicy Głogowa (SW Polska)
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2007) Muszyński, Marek; Gaweł, Adam; Skowroński, Andrzej
The authors studied (optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, XRD, IR) the so-called faceted garnets found in heavy mineral fractions, separated out from the sandstones of the Buntsandstein on the Fore-Sudetic Monocline. The garnets represent almandine members of the almandine-pyrope series (almandine prevails over pyrope) and usually contain a subordinate admixture of the grossular member, whereas are devoid of the spessartine member. An alimentation area of these minerals was probably situated in the Sudetes, where garnets with a similar composition occur in some exposed rocks of the eclogite and granulite facies. The authors agree with currently prevailing opinions that the faceted garnets (co-occurring with rounded grains of zircon, tourmaline, rutile, apatite, and even mica flakes) were formed due to their selective diagenetic leaching by porous solutions. The process must have proceeded slowly in an alkaline or, possibly, neutral environment (it is proved by the presence of unleached apatite and domination of smectites in the bounding mass of the sandstones), under conditions approaching chemical equilibrium between garnets and the porous solutions.
Węglowe osady miocenu Kępy Swarzewskiej na wybrzeżu bałtyckim
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2007) Wagner, Marian
Kępa Swarzewska is situated in northern Poland, close to the Gdańsk Bay in the Kaszuby coastal zone. Within hill-side, the Miocen coal-bearing sediments occur under the Pleistocene deposits. The observations of the cliff walls have provided the basis of distinguishing two coaly complexes: Lower Miocene lignite grup (II), and Middle Miocene lignite group (I), comparable to the respective units of the Polish Lowland. The distinguished sandy complexes contain three lignite seams with a thickness of 0.7-3.1 m. The lignite are included into detritic lithotypes, low rank of middle gelified variety of humic coal. Atrinite is the major microcomponent of this coal. The contribution of the macerals of the liptinite and inertinite groups is subordinate. Low rank and humic character is confirmed by such the results of chemical and technological analyses. Sedimentological diagrams method was used in order to estimate the sequence of organic facies in the paleo peatbogs (marsh, swamp). In the north part of the area of the Kępa Swarzewska a sequence of sedimentation in the anostomosing fluvial system have been found.
Przyczynek do badań lokalnej, poziomej zmienności głównych parametrów jakości węgla brunatnego w centralnej części złoża Bełchatów. Analizy statystyczne
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2007) Bartuś, Tomasz
The Bełchatów lignite deposit is located in the central part of Poland, in the tectonic Kleszczów graben. The theme of researches has been statistical analysis of local, horizontal variability selected depositional parameters from small area (8x8 m), located in the central part of the Bełchatów area. In the investigations was used statistical methods like descriptive statistics, distribution analysis, correlation and regression analysis. Results of the descriptive statistics of the main lignite qualitative parameters beyond little lower capacity of the total sulfur content parameter are contained in to limits which are published by the Bełchatów mine. The researches shows the statistical significance local, horizontal variability of ash and sulfur contents. Simple and multiple linear correlation and regression analysis acknowledge known from literature relations between moisture, ash content and calorific value.
Problematyka polskiego systemu prawnego dotycząca gospodarki odpadami w świetle uregulowań prawnych Unii Europejskiej
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2007) Jarosz-Krzemińska, Elżbieta; Helios-Rybicka, Edeltrauda
The accession of new members to the European Union carries with it the need by the joining member to implement and unify its legislation with that of the EU's. Prior to Poland's accession to the EU, Polish regulations regarding waste management were completely divergent with EU directives. The first attempts to unify Polish waste legislation with EU directives completely failed. It was not until the year 2001 that success was had, yielding a plethora of environmental acts dealing with waste management aspects. At present, Polish waste management regulations can generally be considered in congruence with their EU equivalents. The main aim of this paper, through careful analysis of both strategy and the numerous EU directives as well as their Polish counterparts, to introduce and acquaint the reader with both Polish and European Union Waste Management legislation. Our intention was to create a manual, of sorts, on waste management legislation, in order to help the reader tread through the often seemingly convoluted subject matter.
