Społeczna odpowiedź na zmianę popytu na pracę(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Piróg, TomaszIn this paper we present an analysis of the recent changes in the job market and discuss the process this trig-gered in the social politics of the welfare states. We examine the economic reasons for the changes in job demand and furthermore explore the associated changes in the social structures. New forms of employment and gratification demand a restructurization in the social politics in order to elasticise the job supply. The mismatch between the demand and supply on the job market may result in unemployment, work outside the norms of the law and a growing deficit of social security. This in turn leads to the situation where the sale of own work force doesn't always result in a dignified life standard. As a result, new ways to support people outside the regular job market need to be found. These new solutions are essential in the modern society where the distribution of work is an important issue shaping the social bonds and individual identities.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Wokół mglistej koncepcji - kapitał społeczny w badaniach socjologicznych(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Piróg, TomaszItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Ruch obywatelski w Polsce - geneza, problemy, badania(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2008) Piróg, TomaszIn this paper we present the problem of increasing importance of the citizen and citizen institutions in the modern developed societies and different operative areas of the nongovernmental organisations. The paper also presents the main Polish centres involved in the studies of the third sector. New issues such as: political-industrial changes (globalisation, social security crisis and the state of prosperity), increase in the individuals' consciousness of their role in the formation of social order and the crisis of legitimating of democratic institutions led to a broader inclusion of the citizens in the decisive processes. The supported ideas are: subsidising, new public governance and social economy, all of which lead to the best use of the potential in the independent and cooperating subjects. In this movement the new citizen organisations appear and actively participate in the political areas previously led by governmental institutions (ecology, industry, social benefits). Via their creativity, and the ability to mobilise the capital embedded in the local communities they contribute to the increasing quality of life and strengthening of the social bonds. However, a strong non-governmental sector does not necessarily mean a strong citizen society, especially when it is governed by the superior regulations.
