Abstract

The PhD thesis includes detailed analysis of the electrical energy demand. For deterministic component of the analysed time series the following elements were specified: trend, cyclical and seasonal fluctuations. For examined time series share of the random component (noise) was on the level of 5-6 %. At the next step the author built forecasting models based on seasonal ARIMA processes (SARIMA), exponential smoothing, multiple linear regression and artificial neural networks. The models were analysed and compared with respect to their mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). The important test of the models constituted their residuals analysis - the distribution of the residuals should be close to the normal distribution. As a result of validation and comparison the best models were achieved: SARIMA(1,1,1)(1,1,1)24 and SARIMA(1,1,0)(3,l)24. The MAPE error for these models was close to 1 % what was the basic criterion for considered problem. The observed MAPE errors was larger for morning and evening peaks than for the other hours. The analyses mentioned earlier were the basis for building of decision support system for purchasing of the electrical energy on the hourly market and the basis of this system was fuzzy set model. The proposed algorithms allow to decrease balancing risk for the hours that have higher forecasting risk. The applied solutions can lead to economic profits up to 30 % better than for the systems without hourly balancing.
