Correct TCP data counting allows for efficient bandwidth estimation and congestion control. This paper presents an analysis of the data counting algorithm applied in TCP Westwood. Considering particular scenarios, where out-of-order data is received, we show that TCP Westwood data counting procedure can lead to following errors: negative bandwidth estimation, 100% momentary sampling error, and bandwidth underestimation. We propose a modified data counting algorithm for TCP Cracow. New method allows for-significantly improved bandwidth sampling and improving TCP performance in out-of-orderegments scenarios.

Koncepcja zautomatyzowanego systemu emisji sygnałów TV

Design of the automated TV emission system for the regional TV center in Kraków has been considered in the paper. Development of the automated TV emission systems has been outline and the requirements of the regional TV center have been described. In the proposed system, the hardware solutions with complementary software bear the liability for the emission of TV signals and tasks of the staff concern only the maintenance and control of system operation. Implementation aspects of the system have been discussed too.

Programowa implementacja konfigurowalnego i zarządzanego przez interfejs WWW punktu dostępu do sieci standardu IEEE 802.11

Wireless Local Area Networks are one of the fastest growing areas of data transmission networks. Today we have a broad family of IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards. IEEE 802.11b has recently become the de facto standard for WLANs. It provides 11 Mb/s in the ISM 2.4 GHz band. IEEE 802.11e extends the MAC layer to improve QoS capabilities. Unfortunately this standard up to now was not implemented in real WLAN network devices. The possibility of software access point implementation is presented in this article. The Linux OS with the WLAN interface which is based on the Prism chipset let one create developed cheap access point devices with good radio parameters for IEEE 802.11b network. This study contains also problems related to servicing QoS mechanism in the network layer. These mechanisms are discussed on the basis of Linux OS, which provides advanced service of traffic policing and traffic shaping.

Wideokomunikacja w sieciach IP - możliwości transmisji sygnału wizji w czasie rzeczywistym

Underlying the paper are the issues those concern videocommunication in IP networks. Technical capabilities of a system proposed for the real time transmission of video signals have been examined together with its operation in a real network environment. Implementation costs of the system have been also discussed and some modifications necessary for professional solutions have been proposed too.

Zastosowanie standardu Parlay/OSA w procesie tworzenia nowych usług telekomunikacyjnych opartych na procedurach lokalizacji abonenta w sieci GSM

This paper covers issues concerned with new telecommunication service and application development based on the Parlay/OSA standard. Some implementation solutions, i.e. two subscriber Location Based Services of GSM standard are considered. At the beginning, new telecommunication trends and their impact on telecommunication system model from network operators and subscribers point of view are outlined. The fundamental part of the paper presents a set of Open Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) modelling the functionality of telecommunication networks and testing of new services based on the Parlay/OSA standard. ABSTRACT: The main concept of the standard and the logical elements of its architecture are included. Simulation environment and its relation to service realisation and common telecommunication network nodes interaction are also included. The final part of the paper presents two applications based on the Parlay/OSA standard.
