FT-IR studies of the polymeric binder BioCo1 with modified biopolymer. Part 1
(2014) Grabowska, Beata; Kaczmarska, Karolina
The paper presents structural studies of polymeric water soluble compositions consisting of acrylic derivatives/modified biopolymer. The research FT-IR was focused on novel polymer composition poly(acrylic acid)/modified starch (PAA/CMS) designed for application in the foundry industry - a novel group of polymeric BioCo binders. It was found, that the structure changes occur within groups: carboxyl present in poly(acrylic acid) and carboxyl and hydroxyl groups contained in carboxymethyl starch (vibrations: $ν_{s}$-C=O, $ν_{s}$-$COO^{-}$ and δ-C-O-H).

Microstructure and mechanical behavior of a $CO_{2}$ laser and TIG welded 904L steel
(2014) Bogdanowicz, Zdzisław; Jóźwik, Paweł; Nasiłowska, Barbara
This paper presents the analysis of structural research, micro-hardness and mechanical properties of the base material which is steel 904 L and joints made with $CO_{2}$ laser beam and the TIG method. The analysis of the equilibrium system created in the Thermo-Calc programme based on chemical composition shows a dominancy of austenite with of $Fe_{α}$ additions, phase σ, P and Laves’ and $M_{23}C_{6}$ and $Cr_{9}Mo_{21}Ni_{20}$ carbides. EBSD (electron backscatter diffraction) research done by using an electron scanning microscope confirmed the presence of pure austenite.

Studies on obtaining Cu-CNT composites by continuous casting method
(2014) Kwaśniewski, Paweł; Kiesiewicz, Grzegorz
The progress of civilization force that we look for new materials with higher exploitation properties that can be used in different types of installations and will allow to increase their technological potential. One of the research trends is concentrated on the search of new materials with the above standard electrical conductivity, mechanical and rheological properties, higher thermal resistance and technological properties, all in comparison to pure copper. One of the ideas of such material is composite produced from copper and high quality carbon materials (CNT’s or graphene). Regarding to the above, presented paper refers to the research results concentrated on the metallurgical synthesis of Cu-CNT’s materials obtained with the use of the continuous casting method. Within this paper research works over the synthesis method and obtained material characterization, for electrical, mechanical and structural properties (for both as cast and after cold drawing tempers) are shown.

An examination of the heat treatment effect on mechanical properties of twin-roll cast followed by cold rolling sheets made of aluminium and its alloys
(2014) Ściężor, Wojciech; Mamala, Andrzej Jacek; Kwaśniewski, Paweł
Modern aluminium alloys are more commonly used in various industries. Often the products of such materials operate at elevated temperatures. In addition to standard requirements in terms of mechanical and technological properties, one of the key performance properties becomes the increased resistance to annealing. This paper examines the heat treatment effect on the mechanical properties of sheets made of aluminium with grain refiner additions (Ti + B), Fe, Si and Mn. Tested materials were obtained by cold-rolling strips, manufactured by twin-roll casting – TRC method. TRC method is increasingly being used in the manufacture of flat-rolled products. This technology eliminates the hot rolling operations and the strip obtained by TRC method can be subjected to direct cold rolling.
