Description

Abstract

Natural and industrial gases often contain water, which is an undesirable component. Its presence generates many problems, especially at the stage of gas transport, such as the formation of hydrates blocking pipelines and equipment, it contributes to the phenomenon of condensation and corrosion of pipelines especially in the presence in gas of carbon dioxide or hydrogen sulphide. The paper presents and evaluates the application of the most important modern technologies for drying of natural and industrial gases: absorption in ethylene glycol solutions, adsorption methods using silica gel, molecular sieves or calcium chloride and low-temperature processes: the IFPEX-1® process, supersonic separator Twister ® and DexProTM process. Among these methods, absorption in ethylene glycol solutions is most commonly used process.
