Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Technological and safety aspects of CNG home fast refueling units(2016) Kuczyński, Szymon; Liszka, Krystian; Łaciak, Mariusz; Olìjnik, Andrìj; Strods, Robert; Szurlej, AdamDespite all global economic shifts and the fact that natural gas is recognized worldwide as the main and the leading alternative to oil products in transportation sector, there is a huge barrier to switch passenger vehicle segment to natural gas – the lack of refueling infrastructure for natural gas vehicles. The key to solving that problem and providing barrier breaking refueling infrastructure solution for natural gas vehicles (NGV) is home fast refueling units. It operates using natural gas (methane), which is being provided through gas pipelines at client’s home, and electricity connection point. It enables an environmentally friendly NGV’s home refueling just in minutes. The underlying technology is one stage hydraulic compressor (instead of multistage mechanical compressor technology) which provides the possibility to compress low pressure gas from residential gas grid to 200 bar for its further usage as a fuel for NGVs. More than efficiency and convenience, the direct hydraulic compressor technology provides compelling cost and lifetime advantages as well as superior convenience over other solutions. Aims of this article is to compare technical, technological and safety aspects of home refueling units and estimate a perspectives of natural gas vehicles as an alternative for regular vehicles.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , An assessment of the influence of the main oil industry technological processes on the environment(2015) Mandrik, Oleg Mikolajovič; Pukìš, Arsen Volodimirovič; Mihajlûk, Ûliâ DmitrìvnaThis article discusses the main dangerous ecological factors of influence of each individual technological process element of oil production on the environment, namely: preparation of the ground for well construction, oil production, transportation of well production, its storage in reservoirs, and storage of the oil industry wastes. The project is carried out by Polish company PGNiG and by academics from WAT, AGH and PW (Military University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology, and Warsaw University of Technology). Finding the best business model, in which costs of $CO_{2}$ production or acquisition are negligible is one of the most important factors influencing the economical effectiveness of the technology. The main part of known $CO_{2}$ acquisition methods is based on fuel purchase and its combustion, what is very expensive process. It results with the high $CO_{2}$ price, when purchasing from producer, about 300 zl/ton. This price is quite high, considering current low prices of natural gas. In the paper basic aspects of $CO_{2}$ acquisition from $CO_{2}$ producers, exhaust gases treatment plants or plasma gasification methods will be presented.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Linear Swelling Test (LST) of clay formation under the influence of newly developed drilling fluids with the addition of cationic polymers(2015) Wysocki, Sławomir; Wiśniowski, Rafał; Ryznar, Dawid; Gaczoł, MagdalenaThis paper shows research of Linear Swelling Test (LST) of shale rocks under the influence of three drilling muds with different cationic polymers. In order to increase the coefficient of methane exploration from coal seams, in a horizontal section of the well, hydraulic fracturing operations are applied. Drilling process and hydraulic fracturing operations involve emission of pollutants to the air from the fuel combustion process. In the case of drilling operations fuel is used to generate electric power, which drives the drilling device and its components, while during hydraulic fracturing to drive high-pressure pump engines. W artykule zaprezentowano niektóre aspekty zagadnień pozyskiwania energii cieplnej z górotworu oraz wyniki uzyskanych analiz wynikających z monitoringu i pomiarów zmian temperatury w warstwach powierzchniowych górotworu do głębokości około 20 m.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Numerical simulation of drilling fluid flow in annular the space of the borehole(2015) Kowalska-Kubsik, IwonaThis paper presents the numerical results of a numerical analys is of drilling fluid flow through annular space in the borehole. The analysis used the Herschel–Bulkley rheological fluid model. The obtained results of the analysis for three cases with variable geometry. Variable geometry is associated with a larger diameter drill in the joints of drill pipes, and consequently, with reduced flow cross-section. A comparison of pressure values at the end of the analyzed examples showed that in the example of a simple drill pipe with out joints, pressure values were 30% higher than in the case, which takes into account changes in the geometry of the joints.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The vision of students regarding tomorrow's world in European engineering education(2014) Duşe, Dan Maniu; Duşe, Carmen; Nemeş, CătălinStarting from Michael Rendell and his team's »Managing tomorrow's people«, this paper sets out to build a possible future of leadership in the European engineering education by taking the students' view on tomorrow's world into consideration. We can ask ourselves if European technical universities, and engineering education in particular. could exist in a Blue, Green and Orange World. How would they look like and how efficient would »corporate« universities be, assuming that the Blue World would prevail in the next 10 years. What should their development strategies be and what labor markets would absorb their graduates? What if universities would be in the Green or Orange World? What leaders should they have then? Starting from these questions we try to construct possible scenarios for a European reality.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The development of a sensor system for monitoring the displacement of horizontal laterals in Radial Drilling Technology(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Ziaja, Jan; Movčan, Vasil'Radial drilling technology was developed by Rad Tech international inc., an American company set up by Henk Jelsma, its permanent head and the technology patent holder. First introduced in the Americas, radial drilling technology acquired wide recognition in the USA and Colombia and later found applications in Canada, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile and the Middle East. In general, this technology is aimed at extending and improving drainage areas in productive formations. Other applications of radial drilling include the creation of specifically directed injection channels and exploration activities. Performance testing of these short radius laterals has not been adequately studied and significant questions remain about how well these technologies can deliver on their promises. The main objective of the paper is to sum up previous experience in developing a system for monitoring the displacement of horizontal laterals and wells, and examining a prospective new technology which can increase the efficiency of radial drilling.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Study of the stress strain of rock massif in the crooked wellbore(2014) Černova, Miroslava Êvgenìïvna; Kunĉak, Âroslav Vasi'ovičWe investigated the stressed-deformed state of rock mass in a deviated borehole. The prediction of rock mass pressures can be performed in a number of ways. The prediction methods have been reviewed since the 1950s. The methods of empirical forecasting of pressures proposed by Eaton B.A. as well as Hottman and Johnson were described in the paper. The paper also refers to the prediction of rock mass pressures on the basis of seismic well log results obtained from works performed on the same geologic unit. A relation between basic parameters of rocks along the wellbore profile is shown. The Eaton method was used for empirical determining pressure for a planned well based on seismic data form the existing well.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Phase equilibria for liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a multicomponent mixture(2015) Włodek, TomaszLiquefied natural gas (LNG) has an increasingly important role in the global natural gas market. Global demand for natural gas will grow over the coming years. LNG is transported by ships to unloading points on the storage terminals. During the LNG unloading and storage processes some part of LNG evaporates into gas phase and causes changes in the composition of stored LNG. The main component of LNG is methane, the remaining components are primarily ethane, propane, butane and nitrogen. Depending on the participation of these components the basic thermodynamic parameters of LNG can significantly change. LNG is also product sensitive to changes of temperature. In order to better prediction of changes of individual parameters of stored LNG caused by changes of temperature and LNG composition vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) calculations are performed for cryogenic conditions using equations of state.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The modified Dräger probe to the geochemical research of the soil gases composition(2015) Fąfara, Zbigniew; Ilkiv, Igor; Solecki, TadeuszThe Dräger probe in the measurement set to the geochemical research of the soil gases composition is inconvenient to use. It's heavy, which are reąuired to operate at least two people. Cumbersome and time-consuming is to place it into the soil by impact method, and often there is fail to reach the planned measurement depth. For this reason, there was designed and made the new modified Dräger probe. The new probe has significantly lower mass and outer diameter. In principle it should be possible to introduce it into the soil by pushing, which will greatly facilitate and accelerate conducting the geochemical research of the soil gases composition. In the autumn of 2014 has been tested the modified Drager probe. The purpose of this study is to assess it suitability to conduct the geochemical research of the soil gases composition. In total there were performed 374 measurements of the soil gases composition at different depths in the 247 measurement points. In 99 cases (26.5%) there was failed to perform the measurement because the soil gases flow rate through the meter was too little. Pulling probe usually allowed to perform the research - in only 6 measurement points (2.4%), it was impossible. The average depth of the measurement point is equal to 0.78 m.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , An application of a Raman scattering analyzer for the determination of natural gas composition at a processing plant(2016) Włodek, Tomasz; Kuczyński, Szymon; Smulski, Rafał; Polański, KrzysztofThe development of conventional and unconventional natural gas reservoir management includes continuous monitoring of hydrocarbon exploitation processes and its impact on the reservoir and environment. Rigs with optimum technological parameters, adjusted to the geological setting, design of wellbore and technology of drilling, allow for high drilling rates and a considerably lower cost of realization to be obtained. The rig to be used for drilling production wells can be correctly selected using the multicriteria optimization method with synthetic evaluation measure of its technological parameters. For this purpose, the technological parameters of rigs available on the Polish market for the realization of normal diameter wells with percussion-rotary method to a depth of 500 m and 1000 m were reviewed. Taking into account the geological build of the Upper Silesian area and the design of the producing well used for the production of methane from past-extraction gobs, eight evaluation criteria and their weights (W) were selected. On this basis the technical parameters of rigs to be used for drilling wells to a depth of 500 m and 1000 m were reviewed with the multicriteria method. This created the basis for selecting dedicated rigs with optimum technological parameters for drilling normal diameter wells to a depth of 500 m and 1000 m.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Znaczenie technologii wytwarzania energii elektrycznej bazujących na gazie ziemnym dla przedsiębiorstwa energetycznego w kontekście dywersyfikacji jego struktury produkcyjnej(2012) Kryzia, Dominik; Kaliski, MaciejW artykule opisano zmiany na rynku energii oraz potrzeby krajowej elektroenergetyki. Along with the development of science, for optimization of drilling processes were developed and continue to be elaborated mathematical models that use empirical dependencies based mainly on laboratory data which are very far away from the real conditions of well construction and fail to take into account all the peculiarities of this process. Thus, the management of the drillstring dynamics related to an increase in the effectiveness of deep directional and horizontal wells drilling process through the minimization of torsional and longitudinal low frequency vibrations of drilling instrument is a matter of topical interest nowadays.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The analysis of technology of drilling with roller bits on the Carpathian foreland area in the years 1995-2011(2014) Rzyczniak, Mirosław; Rajchel, GrzegorzIn the article, there has been described results of the statistical analysis lead towards two groups of roller bits, with bit teeth, with diameters 0,216 m and 0,4445 m produced by Drilling Equipment and Device Company »GLINIK«.
