Modelling of amplitude-selective-damping valves

The so-called amplitude-selective-damping (ASD) valving is a relatively new approach for modifying the output of a hydraulic shock absorber. In the automotive industry ASD valves are known to improve isolation from road inputs. During more aggressive maneuvers the systems maintains the performance of a standard (non-ASD) shock absorber. In the paper, the author derives and analyzes a fairly complete state-space model of an exemplary piston-side ASD valve. The model includes key geometric and performance characteristics of the valve. The results are shown in the form of phase plane plots of force-displacement diagrams, respectively, for a twin-tube shock absorber configuration of choice.

Podstawowe różnice pomiędzy treścią istniejących dokumentacji glebowych a stanem faktycznym

W artykule porównano treści map glebowych ze stanem rzeczywistym, o którym wiedzy dostarczył opis 66 odkrywek glebowych. Przy doborze porównywanych elementów kierowano się możliwością szybkiego i łatwego ustalenia stanu danej cechy gleby, jak również jej rolą przy określaniu przydatności rolniczej gleby. Badaniami objęto miąższość poziomu próchnicznego, głębokość zwierciadła wody glebowo-gruntowej oraz gatunek gleby. Wyniki badań wskazują na znaczne różnice pomiędzy opisem gleby przedstawionym na mapach glebowych i w Komentarzu do tabeli klas gruntów..., a wynikami badań terenowych w zakresie badanych cech gleby. Wskazuje to na konieczność przeprowadzenia korekty sposobu opisu niektórych elementów gleby, w szczególności stosunków wodnych gleb i poziomu próchnicznego, oraz przeprowadzenia weryfikacji map glebowych.

Wyznaczanie położenia konturów złożowych dla złóż ropy naftowej i gazu ziemnego w oparciu o kryteria hydrodynamiczne

The size and shape of a hydrocarbon field are determined by geological boundaries of strata and surface of the contour. The location of contours depends on the flow of formation waters, reservoir properties of rocks and properties of reservoir fluids. The mapping method of hydrodynamic hydrocarbon traps presented in this paper to determine the site of the field contour and so the deposit boundaries for oil and natural gas. To define the field contours it is necessary to work out a structural map of water-oil-bearing horizon, potentiometric map for reservoir water, map of specific gravity for reservoir water, map of specific gravity of oil in reservoir conditions, map of porosity, map of permeability and map of capillary pressures. Then the methodics presented in the paper should be applied. The procedure lies in performing some simple algebraic operations on maps. The realization of the discussed methodics is presented on the example of the oil field Czerwieńsk, in the Main Dolomite strata in the Fore-Sudetic area.

Active control of vibrations of a three-axis gyroscopic platform on board of a flying object

The work presents an algorithm for active control of vibrations of a three-axis gyroscopic platform during pre-programmed and stabilised operation on board of a flying object. The considerations focus on disturbances resulting from the flying object manoeuvres and short-duration pulses of external forces under the conditions of friction in the bearings and non-linear platform operation range.

Lease as form of municipal land management - case study

This paper presents information about different forms of land management, especially land leasing. Land lease transactions in Poznan, one of Poland's regional cities, have been analyzed. The research has shown that, in Poland, long-term leases have been used in a very limited (partial) scope so far. Most often, lease agreements are concluded for up to three years with the possibility of extension, although the law provides for the possibility of concluding contracts for longer periods. During the years of 1996-2014, the city of Poznan concluded only 18 long-term lease agreements, which is caused by the dominant form of managing public lands - perpetual usufruct.

Automatyczna detekcja elementów asymetrii w dynamicznych mapach CBF perfuzji mózgowej

This paper presents a new algorithm that enables detection of asymmetry in dynamic CBF perfusion maps. In the first stage of the algorithm detection of symmetry axis of image (between left and right hemisphere) is performed. In the second stage the level of asymmetry in cerebral blood flow is measured by detection of regions with different perfusion in both brain hemispheres. The algorithm was tested on a set of 28 different images showing or not cerebral blood flow anomalies. The paper also describes the method for estimating cerebral blood flow with a non diffusing contrast agent based on the Meier-Zierler convolution model as well as CBF, CBV, MTT and TTP perfusion maps.

Sylikatowe żywice organiczno-mineralne w budownictwie podziemnym i tunelowym

Organic-mineral silicate resins are a specific group of the injection-media widely at present used in underground construction and tunnelling. Their common feature is the water environment has no influence on the course of the reaction. The distinction between them and the polyurethane resins (PUR) is they do not transfer the flame and belong to the group of self-extinguishing resins. Both the characterization and examples of the use of organic-mineral silicate resins have been given in the paper.

Acceptance testing of web applications with Test Description Language

Acceptance tests are usually created by a client after a part of a system is implemented. However, some methodologies propose the elaboration of test cases before implementing a system. This approach increases the probability of system implementation that fulfills requirements, but may be problematic for customers and testers. To allow acceptance testing in such conditions, we propose to define test cases by recording them on an interactive mockup (a low detailed user-interface prototype). The paper focuses on Test Description Language, a notation used to store test cases.

Approximate solutions of a singular integral equation with Cauchy kernels in the quarter plane

In the paper, we present explicit formulae for the solution of the singular integral equation with Cauchy kernels in the quarter plane. Next, Jacobi and Chebyshev polynomials are used to derive approximate solutions of this equation.

Fréchet differential of a power series in Banach algebras

We present two new forms in which the Fréchet differential of a power series in a unitary Banach algebra can be expressed in terms of absolutely convergent series involving the commutant $C(T) : A \mapsto [A,T]$. Then we apply the results to study series of vector-valued functions on domains in Banach spaces and to the analytic functional calculus in a complex Banach space.

A new composition theorem for Sp-weighted pseudo almost periodic functions and applications to semilinear differential equations

In this paper, we establish a new composition theorem for $S^p$-weighted pseudo almost periodic functions under weaker conditions than the Lipschitz ones currently encountered in the literatures. We apply this new composition theorem along with the Schauder's fixed point theorem to obtain new existence theorems for weighted pseudo almost periodic mild solutions to a semilinear differential equation in a Banach space.

Badania wpływu nowo opracowanych płuczek kationowo-skrobiowych na zmianę przepuszczalności ośrodka przy użyciu filtrów ceramicznych

In this paper results of investigations of new drill-in muds with cationic polymers are presented. Rheological properties and influence onto permeability of rocks were research. Investigations were moved in simulated downhole conditions. In tests dynamic HPHT filter press and ceramic filters (as a rock simulator) were used. Research shoved, that new cationic-starch drill-in muds couse smaller permeability damage than mud used in Polish industry.

Investigations of influence of vibration on human-operator control functions

In the paper results of experimental investigations of the system operator-handle-base have been presented. The aim of investigations was to record and analyse dynamical reactions of human operator volunteers participating in the experiments on a visual, suddenly appearing step signal. The main task of each operator was tracking of the signal as precisely as possible with a push force exerted on the tool handle. The measurements were done on an especially designed stand. The stand allows to simulate vibration of the tool with chosen frequencies with or without handle isolation. Time histories of step reference and forces realized by the operator were statistically elaborated and graphically presented.

The interdisciplinarity of the publications of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice based on the analysis of the co-occurrence of issues specific to medicine and computer science

Over the years, the study of the interdisciplinarity of publications has taken various forms, from its identification based on the disciplines represented by the authors, through the examination of citations used when writing the article, to the analysis of the publication text itself. The last of these approaches seems to be the most reliable in the context of verifying the real integration between disciplines in a specific text. The approach utilized in the conducted research facilitates a deeper analysis of integration not only between disciplines in general but also between specific issues within their domains, aiding the examination of the intensity of such connections. The research was aimed at analyzing publications affiliated with the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice in terms of their connection with issues included in the area of Computer Science. OpenAlex, a bibliographic database supported by data mainly from Scopus, WoS and Google Scholar, which uses concepts that make up the Wikidata knowledge base to describe the content of publications was used. A list of 14,136 publications from the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice was downloaded from the OpenAlex bibliographic database including such data as: publication id, title, author, abstract, journal, date of publication, ISSN number or concepts. Overall, the most prevalent concepts in the publications were concepts regarding the field of the medicine (medicine, internal medicine, cardiology). The most prevalent concepts concerning computer science in the publications were: computer science, logistic regression and artificial intelligence. The strenght of the connections between concepts regarding medicine and computer science was calculated by calculating the arithmetic mean of the score value for each pair of IT and medical concepts contained in a single publication. The study showed the importance of computer Science issues in the medical publications and highligted the growing importance of AI in the field of medicine.

European perpetrator programmes: a survey on day-to-day outcome measurement

Evaluating the results of programmes for perpetrators of domestic violence is essential for both policy makers and practitioners, and a growing number of studies have addressed this issue. However, few studies have described the ongoing, day-to-day outcome measurements routinely undertaken by perpetrator programmes to monitor their results. As part of the <i>IMPACT Evaluation of European Perpetrator Programmes</i> project, in the present study 134 domestic violence perpetrator programmes from 22 European countries answered a survey on the designs, methods and instruments they use in their current day-to-day outcome monitoring practice and on the obstacles to and need for improvements in this practice. The main results include the findings that 20% of programmes do not measure outcomes at all, that there is a great diversity in methods and instruments used, and a low percentage of programmes make use of data from the victims/survivors and from follow-ups.
