Logistic process reengineering : a case study
(AGH University of Science and Technology Press, 2010) Cempel, Witold Aleksander
The aim of this paper is to present the case study of business processes reengineering (BPR). Important part of the change was the logistic process. At the beginning, the literature review on process approach and BPR was presented. Next a BPR methodology was shown. The case study of the implemented BPR change consists of three parts. In the first part, the company’s standing before the change was characterised. Next, the methodology of the project, based on the BPR approach, was defined. In the third part, the results of the BPR change were depicted. The article ends up with general conclusions.
Minimization of the manufacturer's distribution costs in the supply chain - case study
(AGH University of Science and Technology Press, 2010) Hanczar, Paweł Stanisław
The paper presents a linear programming model applied to solving a problem of planning vehicles routes. Although there is a lot of papers considering many different versions of classical vehicle routing problem, real life problems very often require special approach. In the paper the situation where the manufacturer orders transportation services from external company is taken into consideration. In the first part of the paper the basic definitions are introduced. Then possible models for finding solution to presented problem are discussed. In order to solve this issue two linear programming formulations based on the set partitioning model and on the vehicle routing problem have been developed. The last part of the paper describes application of the introduced model to planning routes for real life instance. Additionally the way of integrating presented models with the R3 system is discussed in details.
Choice of order picking concepts by means of simulation tools
(AGH University of Science and Technology Press, 2010) Gałązka, Marek; Jakubiak, Michał
The pressure connected with cost cutting parallel to increase in consumer service quality, as well as speeding up the flow of goods are the result of worldwide economy trend connected with a big competition in the market. That's why in modern economy even small movements of goods on short distances are becoming more and more important. Order picking is the most laborious process in a warehouse, and according to different research, it equals to 55-65% of costs of all warehousing operations. On the basis of the existing model of a warehouse, which belongs to a logistic operator, a computer program has been created which examines the influence, of goods allocation in a warehouse and three heuristic concepts of planning the picking route, on the overall order picking time. By means of implemented simulation methods it is possible to match the appropriate order picking process to the needs of a given enterprise.
Company strategy in the crisis period
(AGH University of Science and Technology Press, 2010) Malindžák, Dušan; Mervart, Jaroslav
The article deals with the logistic strategies enabling an enterprise to create a strategy flexible in terms of business and marketing and stable in terms of manufacturing. In order to create a strategy model the following principles can be applied: shorter periods of capacity planning combined with flexible planning, SYNCRO - MRP principle, the application of forecasting in operative planning, creation with partners one of the cooperation form as supply chain, demand chain, lean supply chain, agile supply chain, leagile supply chain, and using the DBR, APS and SCP systems.
Finding structure kernel and shell with predetermined cardinality of kernel set, using evolutionary algorithm
(AGH University of Science and Technology Press, 2010) Mażbic-Kulma, Barbara; Stańczak, Jarosław; Sęp, Krzysztof
The theory of logistic transportation systems deals with models of phenomena connected with movement of goods and persons. The developed model of the transportation system is expected to simulate a real system, but also should help us to solve given transportation tasks. In order to describe transportation system (rail, bus or air), as a routine a connection graph would be used. Vertices of the graph can be train stations, bus stops etc. The edges show direct connections between vertices. Its direct application can be difficult and computational problems can occur while one would try to organize or optimize such a transportation system. Therefore, a method of aggregation of such graph was introduced, using the general kernel and shell structure and its particular instance the ?-clique structured graphs of connections. In the present approach, we use a predetermined number of communication hubs with the possibility of direct determining which nodes should become hubs or selecting them by the solving method. This structure allows to concentrate and order the transport of goods/persons among vertices and enables to reduce the number of analyzed vertices as well as arcs/edges of the graph. To obtain the desired structure, an evolutionary algorithm (EA) was applied.
