#Islam #Muzułmanka – analiza sposobów wykorzystania mediów społecznościowych jako głosu niesłyszanych
    (Wydawnictwa AGH, 2020) Stojkow, Maria
The purpose of the article is to analyse Muslim groups in social media in terms of the functions they play in the lives of Muslims, especially the Muslim women living in Poland. The Muslim community is not significant in Poland, so interpersonal contacts in real life may be difficult. Muslims, especially Muslim women experience oppression and discrimination in everyday life, so the Internet can be a place where they will seek understanding and support as well as a way to solve their own problems. There are potentially many areas where the Internet, and especially social media will support Muslim women. To discover them, the contents of selected Facebook groups targeted at Muslims and Muslim women will be analysed.

Wybrane aspekty świata islamu i muzułmanów
    (Wydawnictwa AGH, 2020) Stojkow, Maria
The relatively significant rise in the number of the Muslims in the modern world, the migration crisis and the activity of various Islamic extremist groups make the Muslims a subject of political debate in many countries, including these where the Muslim dispora is small. Many issues related to Islam and the Muslims living in both Muslim countries and diasporas around the world are still unknown to the wider public. The issues related to the revival of Islam in places where it has been completely uprooted for some time, the issues of the presence and the rights of various discriminated groups as well as gender discrimination are becoming important topics in the scientific discussion about the world today. The same is true for the media and literature.

Muslim women in the mirror: the stigma of Muslim women in Poland
    (Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Stojkow, Maria
The main objective of the paper is to recreate a strategy to deal with the stigma in the daily lives of Muslim women who decided to move permanently to Poland, and Polish women who decided to convert to Islam. The subject of the research is Muslim women who live in Poland and participated in biographical interviews. According to the interviews, an image of Muslim women based on what they themselves think was reconstructed. Their methods of dealing with everyday situations, which these women face in the country in which they live, and conflicts with their families of origin, are presented. In Poland, as shown by opinion polls, people originating from Muslim countries are perceived negatively. As a result, immigrants from these regions who stay in our country are stigmatised as the other, different, hostile and dangerous to the society. This is the result of commonly shared negative stereotypes. A very similar fate is experienced by Polish women who have converted to Islam. Living with stigma forces those stigmatised to adopt strategies that allow them to operate in a foreign country. This situation is particularly oppressive for Muslim women, who on the one hand must deal with the stigma they carry due to their otherness in the host country, while on the other hand must follow tradition and constraints imposed by the religion and culture in which they were raised. Muslim clothing allows fast and easy categorization. Women wearing hijabs are easily identified, and because of it possible stereotypes and prejudices are activated.

Family networks of people with disabilities and their role in promoting the empowerment of people with disabilities
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Stojkow, Maria; Żuchowska-Skiba, Dorota
Family members are the key source of social, emotional and financial assistance for people with disabilities throughout their lives. However, the role of the family undergoes significant changes in different periods of the life of people with disabilities. During childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age, people with disabilities need other forms of support, which means that they undertake educational, professional or family activities related to starting their own families and bringing up children. Around that time, their relationship with the family is changing. The role of the family is becoming limited in the area of control and assistance in making life choices for people with disabilities. Our goal will be to reconstruct the family’s presence in social networks of adults and to identify socio-demographic and emotional factors that affect the number of contacts with the family. This will be the starting point for presenting the impact of family relationships on strengthening empowerment and promoting self-determination among adults with disabilities. The analysis will be based on data from Social Diagnosis 2015.
