Abstract

The relatively significant rise in the number of the Muslims in the modern world, the migration crisis and the activity of various Islamic extremist groups make the Muslims a subject of political debate in many countries, including these where the Muslim dispora is small. Many issues related to Islam and the Muslims living in both Muslim countries and diasporas around the world are still unknown to the wider public. The issues related to the revival of Islam in places where it has been completely uprooted for some time, the issues of the presence and the rights of various discriminated groups as well as gender discrimination are becoming important topics in the scientific discussion about the world today. The same is true for the media and literature. Stosunkowo duży wzrost liczby ludności muzułmańskiej we współczesnym świecie, kryzys migracyjny i aktywność różnego rodzaju islamskich grup ekstremistycznych powoduje, że muzułmanie stają się dziś tematem debaty politycznej w wielu krajach, również w tych, gdzie diaspora muzułmańska jest niewielka. Wiele kwestii związanych z islamem i muzułmanami żyjącymi zarówno w krajach muzułmańskich, jak i diasporach rozsianych po całym świecie, pozostaje nadal nieznanych szerszej publiczności. Kwestie związane dziś z odradzającym się islamem w miejscach, gdzie przez pewien czas był on totalnie wykorzeniony, kwestie obecności i praw różnych dyskryminowanych grup oraz dyskryminacja ze względu na płeć stają się dziś ważnymi tematami w dyskusji naukowej nad światem.
