Wydział Energetyki i PaliwTwo-dimensional (2D) materials have rapidly emerged as transformative platforms for energy storage and conversion, owing to their atomic-scale thickness, tunable electronic structures, and versatile chemical functionalities. Over the past five years, remarkable advances in material synthesis, interface engineering, and device integration have unlocked new opportunities, yet challenges in stability, scalability, and performance optimization remain. In this roadmap, we provide an updated perspective toward 2030, systematically reviewing eleven representative 2D material classes, which can be broadly grouped into carbon-based materials, inorganic semiconductors, framework materials, and layered nanosheet systems. Their opportunities and challenges in electrochemical energy storage, photocatalysis, and electrocatalysis are highlighted. We believe this roadmap can enrich the development of 2D materials for sustainable energy technologies, and provide useful guidance for both fundamental studies and practical applications in the coming decade.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , 3D carbon based phase change composites: A review on progress in fabrication strategies, thermal energy storage-conversion efficacy, prototypes, numerical models and applications(2024) Das, Madhurima; Stachewicz, Urszula

Wydział Energetyki i PaliwSolid oxide cells (SOCs) can operate efficiently in solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and/or solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) modes, and are one of the most promising electrochemical devices for energy conversion and storage, facilitating the integration of renewable energies with the electric grid. However, the SOC electrodes suffer performance and stability issues, especially in the case of fuel electrodes when SOCs are fueled by cheaper and more available fuels such as methane and natural gas. Typical Ni-YSZ cermet fuel electrodes suffer problems of coarsening, carbon deposition, and sulfur poisoning. Therefore, developing new electrodes using novel design strategies for SOCs is crucial. In this review work, the fuel electrode development strategies including the in situ exsolution of nanoparticles, multi-elemental nanocatalysts, and nanofiber materials have been reviewed and summarized for the design of new electrodes for SOCs. Nanofiber electrodes with in situ exsolved nanoparticles, which combine the advantages of a unique nanofiber microstructure and stable and active exsolved nanoparticles, are of great interest and significantly contribute to the development of high-performance fuel electrodes for SOCs.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , AA2024/fly ash lightweight composites fabricated by powder metallurgy(2024) Nikiel, PiotrThe paper presents the experimental results on the fabrication of lightweight aluminum alloy AA2024 matrix composites reinforced with fly ash microspheres using powder metallurgy (PM) via hot pressing. The primary aim was to achieve a composite with the highest possible matrix density while preserving undamaged microspheres. A mixture of powders consisting of AA2024 alloy powder and 10 wt% fly ash was pressed at 550°C and pressures of 5, 10, 20, and 30 MPa for two minutes. The obtained composites had densities in the range of 1.93 - 2.31 g/cm3. Microstructural analysis revealed uniform distribution of the fly ash microspheres in the aluminum alloy matrix. The hardness of the composites was comparable only between the samples pressed at 10, 20, and 30 MPa, falling within the range of 118 to 122 HV0.1. The sample pressed at 5 MPa exhibited significantly lower hardness of 98.8 HV0.1. The composites produced by pressing at 20 and 30 MPa were characterized by high yield strength and compression strength, ranging from 211 to 216 MPa and 300 to 354 MPa, respectively. The composites pressed applying lower pressures, especially those at 5 MPa, exhibited significantly lower values of plastic yield strength and compression strength, with values of 109 MPa and 115 MPa, respectively. Taking into account the density, the number of damaged microspheres, and the microstructure of the AA2024/fly ash composite, the optimal pressing range is between 10 - 20 MPa, but superior mechanical properties were achieved after pressing at 20 and 30 MPa.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Advancements in ZnO-based photocatalysts for effective rhodamine dye removal from water(2024) Das, Madhurima; Ghatak, Avishek; Ray, Preetam Guha; Stachewicz, Urszula
Wydział Inżynierii Metali i Informatyki PrzemysłowejThe escalating growth of industries, population, and urban culture has exacerbated the global challenge of contaminated water due to hazardous organic dyes. One such noxious dye, rhodamine, poses a significant threat to human health and has consequently prompted extensive research into its removal from wastewater. Nanostructured ZnO emerges as a promising photocatalyst for tackling such hazardous colorants, owing to its exceptional performance and heightened surface reactivity. This review article comprehensively examines the photocatalytic removal of rhodamine dye by various ZnO nanomaterial-based catalysts over the past few decades. The primary objective is to investigate the impact of different synthesis techniques and modifications of ZnO, including doping with metal ions, carbon, and sulfur, or the creation of composites with various low-dimensional carbon materials, metal oxides, metal sulfides, and polymers. These strategies have been explored to enhance the efficacy of rhodamine dye remediation from wastewater by harnessing the improved photocatalytic performance of ZnO nanomaterials. The review delves into recent literature reports, highlighting observed results and key findings addressing critical challenges and outlines prospects for ZnO-based photocatalysts in rhodamine dye remediation. It becomes evident that evolving synthesis methods and optimizing the heterojunction of ZnO photocatalysts are essential for advancing the efficacy of rhodamine dye removal and contributing to the creation of a cleaner and greener environment.Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Aerial SLAM algorithm with global alignment using satellite imagery(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Karbowski, Jakub; Bartoszewski, Bartosz; Kokot, Daria; Kwiecień, Michał Jan; Turlej, TymoteuszSimultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithms can be used in aerial vehicles with a down-facing camera for navigation and terrain mapping. However, they suffer from an incremental position error. Each neighbouring image pair match introduces an alignment error which accumulates to a global position error proportional to the map size. By using a reference satellite image map this error can be reduced to a constant factor. This work proposes a novel image alignment algorithm called Embed Match which can be applied to any SLAM algorithm. Embed Match uses a neural network to represent a map region as a field of embedding vectors which are a semantic representation of the area. By comparing the embedding fields of a satellite image and the camera image, an alignment function is defined. Maximising this function leads to image alignment. The proposed algorithm shows a radically different approach from keypoint-based alignment methods which usually struggle with matching drastically different images, such as satellite and real camera images.Item type:Book, Access status: Open Access , Agent-Based Metaheuristics in Search and Optimisation(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2013) Byrski, AleksanderIn the domain of computing, an everlasting requirement for developing new metaheuristics for particular problems, coming right from the well-known no free lunch theorem, may be observed. The need for new search and optimisation methods, hybrid ones in particular, paves the way for the development of different metaheuristics, going beyond classical methods (such as population-based ones). Evolutionary multiagent systems (EMAS), which brings together interesting features of agency (such as autonomy) and inspirations coming from population-based techniques, is a good example of such promising methods. However, constructing complex metaheuristics without a detailed description of their structure and behaviour may become pointless, and novel methods, though yielding promising results in particular cases, may be underestimated, because they have not been fully understood and analysed. This dissertation focuses on the issues concerning the justification of using agent-based metaheuristics (in particular EMAS and its variants), preparing of dedicated formal model, conducting an analysis aimed at proving so-called asymptotic guarantee of success and performing experimental analysis of the considered methods. These issues may be treated as the most important and novel aspects of this dissertation. In the beginning of the monograph, a systematic state-of-the-art review is given, then the concepts of EMAS and its modifications are discussed, later the formal model of structure and dynamics of the system using Markov-chains is described. Finally, the outcomes of a broad series of experiments on selected benchmark and real-world problems are discussed. The results presented in this dissertation are useful for practitioners who would to use agent-based metaheuristics and to obtain a deeper insight into the details of their design, experimental and formal features.Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Agile Management(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Szyjewski, ZdzisławThe changes caused by a pandemic have a very strong impact on many areas of activity. Analyzing student use of GPT models during exams(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Rożek, KarolinaWith the increasing integration of artificial intelligence tools, such as GPT models, in higher education, their impact on learning processes and academic integrity has become a subject of growing research interest. This article presents a qualitative analysis of students’ responses to open-ended questions from a broader survey on the use of GPT models specifically during exams, focusing on their declarations regarding AI use and the ways in which they utilized these tools in exam settings. The findings reveal that while some students perceive AI as a learning aid that reduces stress, others exploit it to bypass traditional assessment methods, particularly in subjects they deem less valuable. The analysis underscores the ethically ambiguous role of AI in education, highlighting the need to adapt evaluation strategies, and address the challenges posed by the growing presence of AI (not only) in academia. Future research should focus on disciplinary differences, institutional policies, and the long-term cognitive effects of AI use by students.Item type:Report, Access status: Open Access , Aktywność ekonomiczna Ukraińców w Krakowie i Małopolsce w latach 2022-2024: co zadziałało i dlaczego?(2024) Bagliuk, Artur

Marc/Mentat software. A spatial FEM model of a reinforced concrete foundation slab supported on the ground and a steel body consisting of shell, perimeter and longitudinal frames was created. The reinforced concrete is formed by a coherent mesh of 8-node spatial elements, the body is formed by 4-node shell elements of the shell, longitudinal and transverse frames. The generator and rotor blades of the wind turbine were replaced by masses centered at the centers of gravity of these elements and the corresponding mass moments of inertia. Wind pressure was represented in terms of forces and pressures. An analysis of these quantities in terms of maximum operational wind speed was carried out. The purpose of the study was to create a numerical model of the foundation and body of a wind turbine, where the 750 kW Lagerwey LW58 power plant was modeled. In the calculations, the displacements from static loads, natural frequencies and vibration velocities of the foundation and body in the selected frequency range of forcing forces were determined.Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Analiza mikroklimatu pomieszczenia mieszkalnego(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Ciupa, AdamThis article presents the essence of ensuring appropriate conditions in living quarters, ventilation and central heating systems in the civil engineering from the period of the Polish People’s Republic (PRL) and the course of research into the microclimate of a living quarter on an actual example.
